So, I wondering...

My poor little baby girl is sick.. she hadn't been feeling well and woke up from a nap today with a 104.8 fever- and this was while being dosed with Motrin.  Off to the hopital we go, and lo and behold she is positive for both the flu and strep.  After dosing her some more they could only get the fever to 102.  So, anyway.. got me thinking.  They tested the rest of us, and we are all ok.  But I realized, before my sleeve I had strep, the flu, ear infections, etc all the time.  Now I almost never get sick.. not counting when I am laid up with cramps which is about 2 days every month.. So..

Do you get sick more often, less often, or the same since losing weight??

I realized this not to long ago...I used to get super sick at least twice a winter, and loss of voice too! But since losing my weight I havent gotten sick once! How crazy is that?

Glad I am not alone!  I know this is going to sound bad.. but true is true, so here goes.. My older daughter is naturally very slim (actually underweight) and is never sick.. even after sharing cups/ a bed with her sister.  My younger baby is slightly overweight and is sick much more often.. I wonder if it correlates..

I'm sorry that your baby is not feeling good.   I hope she feels better real soon.   I noticed the same thing.  I usually get sick,  bronchitis twice a year for several years now,  since my surgery i haven't been sick once.   Interesting  :o)  jeani

I went for years without getting sick. Then I was sick a lot after surgery last winter. This past winter,
I  felt  like I was  starting to get sick, but then it seemed like it just went  away in a couple days, and never developed into anything.  Maybe it's all the vitamins I take?

Oh I am so sorry your little girl is sick!  Hopefully she will just be able to sleep it away instead of being so miserable.

It's funny you posted this though...just today I passed my Costco bottle of Vitamin C off to a coworker.  One of my coworkers gave it to me pre-surgery as a funny joke or nice gesture as I had literally spent months fighing off colds and coughs.  I haven't been sick during the last year.

Yay, for being more healthy!

I am so sorry your little one is sick.  I hope she feels better soon.  I have noticed the same thing.  I usually would get sick a few times a year, but I have not been sick even once since getting the sleeve.  I was wondering about this too.  My son is very thin naturally, but he does pick up colds quite easily and my daughter is a little more prone to chubbiness, but she almost never gets sick, so I am not sure there is a correlation.

Ya know, I had been thinking the same thing. Used to get one or two nasty colds a year. In the 16 months since surgery I have had only one and it was less miserable. I think there is less fat in my head squishing my sinuses!  And I sure have fewer aches and pains in general.

Hope your girl gets well soon.

Sorry to hear she's not feeling well. I hope she gets to feeling better soon.

Funny that you posted this. I actually hadn't paid much attention to it. Then a couple of weeks ago when my two year old son had a virus (which also sent him into a fit of a fever I couldn't get down...so with ya there), he was all me, wanting his mommy for comfort. I was so worried I was going sick as well. I felt like I was coming down with something, but then it never really developed into anything.

I mentioned it to my husband and his response was how happy he was that I wasn't sick all the time anymore. That's when I really thought about it and realized how sick I really used to be and what a difference there is now. And...how much it really impacted my family.

I have to say that although I still have allergy problems, they are not nearly as bad and I only have to take meds for it about half as much as I used to.

So yes I think there is a correlation.

I was never sick before and am never sick now. :D

But I feel better now. I'm less likely to take a nap in the middle of the day or feel sluggish.
