Please correct me if I'm wrong....... (it happened once before) <------good joke ehh !!!!

I don't see why people like Still Fawn.....Bosco girl....and a few others need to be defensive about what they eat?

If your at goal and maintaining.......and you have your own way of eating....that's what it's all about!

That is exactly what Dr.C has told me. Sure Dr.C has an eating plan for you in weight loss. But he really leaves it up to the patient to maintain. He figures by the time you get to goal and he gives you the tools...... It's up to you.

From what I've seen here....It's the folks that can't lose the weight or can't maintain are the ones that ask the nutritional questions and get advised one way or another.

Even the recent uproar with a certain member.......she does it her way and it works! Cool !!! My only issue with her....was not the message.....but the messenger.

I'm in the smack dab in the middle of finding my own tolerances for different foods...... My hopes are that I can end up like Still Fawn and just live and eat mindfully. I'm preparing for the worst and hoping for the best.

As usual, you are right on target Frisco.  I really don't understand why anybody would feel defensive about their eating plan if it is working for them.  After all, that is what we are all after, a plan that helps keep us where we want to be.  It has to be different for every person as we are all different.  We have different  genetics, food histories, exercise regimens, height, weight fluctuation tolerance....
There can never be one size fits all for maintenance.  I told Dr. C about a host of things I was doing differently now, he just wanted to know if it was working for me.  I told him it mostly was fine.  He told me to just keep doing it then.  The advice I offer is never to people who are happily maintaining, it is always to those that are struggling.

I am not defensive... I am just curious, and thought others might be as well... It is all good.  I don't really get offended, defensive, etc.. I am a live and let live sort..

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

Maybe defensive was not the right word...... I just think what you have achieved and what your are able to do is the ultimate goal/prize !!!!

I agree- I am quite content. I feel lucky to not have to do this on a regular basis to be honest. I just get asked a lot how much, how often, what types of food I eat. I figured it was time I at least knew the answers to that. This wasn't meant to be controversial at all.. Seriously, just something for me. M saying has always been that curiosity killed the cat... But that satisfaction brought it back..

I am sorry, I didn't mean you in particular.  I have just noticed that a few people who seem to be doing just fine at keeping their goal weight seem to be defensive about the way they are doing it.  That just doesn't make sense to me, since it is working for them.  I would say "hay, this is how I eat, and these are my awesome results".  I think it is great that you are tracking what you are eating for a week, it will give you a sense of what is working for you.  Dr. C recommends everybody does that at least one week a year to see what they are eating.  It sounds like a great plan.  I think you have achieved the WLS gold standard, to be able to eat what you want and maintain is a dream.

Well, I am glad you are going to post this as I am always curious about what others do to maintain and what and how much they eat. Guess I am a maintenance "voyeur".  I do journal my food with calories, carbs and protein in the same way i have done since my surgery. Pencil and little notebook called "Fat B Gone" in volume 4. Right now I find it easy and quick and simpler than dealing with a computer program which I tried but had trouble with.

IN weight loss phase I was very careful to stay within the calorie, carb and protein guidelines I was given. These days the main purpose of my journal is to make sure I get enough protein since doc says 70 g a day for life. Its easy to get behind on that since I sometimes eat oatmeal for breakfast and am avoiding eggs for cholesterol reasons. So if I get to the end of the day and find I am low on protein I have a hot coco protein drink and get it in. I try to keep the calories in a target range but it varies and I don't worry too much as it falls into place since I have gotten out of the habbit of eating certain foods that are what made me fat in the first place.

So looking forward to your post. Maybe a few others of us will do the same so we can learn from each other. Good idea.

Diane

Fawn,Fawn,Fawn, You are sooo amazing!! As you may remember I have PM'ed you asking what you eat in my
quest for goal. I will love seeing what you eat to stay in maintenance.

I have failed sofar, I lost was a size 6-8 and have now gained 30 lbs back. I hate that I have so much room for my food, I have started WW and have lost 2 lbs.
I know it is full of carbs. I just am so desperate...

So very proud of you!!
