I was a serious pasta and potato holic prior to VSG. Would crave potatoes and pastas with all kinds of savory and fatty toppings. Did not eat sweets to any significant degree. Never liked carbonated beverages either.
Have had more cravings after VSG than I ever had before.
I have cravings for things like apples, and tomatos and lemonade.
I crave sweets occasionally, but one or two bites will usually satisfy the craving.
What has really changed is potato eating. Cannot eat much potato in any form, or much pasta either. Don't crave them.
So thankful for the sleeve in my life.
Cravings!! Not so much since VSG. I have always gone for savory and salty over sweets any day. Kettle brand jalapeno potato chips were one of my greatest cravings. A stressful day at work and I could eat an entire bag through out an afternoon and not feel guilty at all! When I pass them up at the store I do wonder what they would taste like now.
I do still crave and use hot sauces of all sorts. I put it on eggs, meats, and even veggies.
Diane, you will have to come to one of my "ladies teas", though no tea here, we have cappuccinos, lattes, or for me just straight espresso. No sweets either, last Sunday it was an assortment of cheeses (smoked gouda my fav), meats, and crackers for my guests.
Love this group and all who post here. Thanks Diane for starting this!
I can get a craving going for anything that I walk past that looks good. Pre-op my biggest craving was for sweets, since I haven't really had them in a year, the cravings really diminish. A protein bar treat can easily take care of that craving if it comes up. What I find myself craving now are nuts. I can do some damage if left to my own devices. I eat enough meat protein to not have cravings for it. Oddly, I'm becoming a fish eater which I never thought would happen to this meat lovin girl.
Jimbo and Frisco, I went to In and Out on Saturday for the first time since 3 or 4 months post-op. I've loved In and Out since going low carb in the 90's, but we don't have them anywhere near where I live. I ordered a small protein style cheeseburger, salivating and expecting greatness. I have to say, I was totally disappointed. I won't be going back. When that burger craving hits, I'll head to my friends restaurant for a thick organic Kobe burger with savory onion marmalade on it, hold the bun please. It's the best one that I've found so far, outside Kobe or Kyoto.
