I too don't always post too much about my foods as it seems to be a very anti-carb site. My doc is a super low carb doc and for the most part I follow that now as I am really early out but do not intend to take carbs out of my life all together at all! I have never been a binge eater or eaten huge amounts at one time so I am not really worried that a slice of bread is going to kill me. i eat lots of beans, cheeses and almonds which many of the super low carbbies would never do. I do not count calories or fats, I make good choices 99 percent of the time and eat very small servings. I say we all should do what works for us and not worry what anyone else thinks. I have seen many people hint they are not anticarbs but try not to say it out right which seems silly as we are all grown ups and only responsible for ourselves. We can disagree all day but that does not invalidate either idea or life style.

you definately are not the only one who chooses to not go low carb, there is an australian board of vsgers that do not eat low carb   http://www.gastricsleevesupport.com  here is some examples of how they eat to give you an idea of how different countries have different opinions for their patients

here is some samples of what their eating is like  futher out, and although some may not make it to goal they dont seem to have the bounce back like we do..

this person is 9 months out and still losing... 5 kilos or 10.4 lbs from goal

B: 1/2 cup bircher museli with milk & cup coffee or 1 scrambled egg & slice toast
MT  (morning tea): piece fruit or maybe a piece of cake/sm muffin/slice
L: 2 slice bread ham and avocado sandwich + drink or salad & sm tin lime & chilli salmon
AT  (afternoon tea) : cheese/chicken/yoghurt/nuts...some sort of dairy/protein snack and as I usually work afternoons & people at work bring yum rubbish I'll often have a sweet biscuit/couple squares chocolate/chips almost every afternoon
D: an example of what I can manage to eat is a thin sausage/ sm palm size piece tender steak/ salmon, 1 tabs mash potato, 2 tabs other veg or roughly 1 cup pasta with meat sauce or 2 pieces pizza (classic crust) Sometimes I'll have sm dessert
S: sometimes 4 saos, cheese & tomato or more nuts & seeds when I get home at 10.30pm

Below is a sample - 14 months post op, 127kg-67kg weight loss

B: 1 fried egg (in spray oil), 1 slice lite cheese on slice rye seed sensations bread toasted.
MT: 1 slice rockmelon, 1 tub yoghurt
L: 1 slice rye seed sensations bread, toasted and topped with 1/4 sliced avocado, 1 slice lite cheese, 50 gms corned beef and green tomato pickles
A: Skim milk cappuncino, 1 biscuit (cookie)
D: Small serve beef and vegie stir fry with 1 tablespoon boiled rice
S: 1/3 cup mixed seeds, nuts and sultanas
Plus another cup skim milk in cups of tea

another one 9 months out with 6 kilos  (13.2 pounds to goal)

I can only eat small meals but I am satisfied with doing so. I very rarely have the desire to continue to eat, and I know you can't really wrap your head around being happy with 1/2 a sandwich for lunch (which is what I usually eat!) but I am truly satisfied with this amount and the desire to keep on eating just isn't there about 99% of the time.

I eat small meals about 6 times a day and I absolutely eat WHATEVER I want and continue to lose weight. I seem to crave much healthier food now than pre-sleeve but if I want chocolate I certainly don't try and resist it.

Am waking up to putting on my size 14 clothes is by far the most satisfying thing of all!!!

I have about 6kg to go to hit my goal and know I will get there - but the pressure is finally off.

here is someone 4 yrs out.

I lost more weight than I wanted to and it would not stop.
I had to eat a lot of bad stuff to put on the 10 extra kilos too much that I lost, and it took me a year to gain it back.

It was very worrying at the time.
I have stayed at my ideal weight now a long time, but like Lib again, I eat full fat everything.
Milk, cream , cheese, ice-cream, yogurt, butter, ghee, coconut cream, nuts, peanut butter, and loads of chocolate among other things in my diet.
If I don't eat these things I will loose weight again and I don't want to.
I do not eat large portions of them, because I have such a small appetite, and I have had my sleeve for 4 years.

Obviously this is completely the opposite of what I thought I would be doing, but I do enjoy it.

so there is definately different ways to achieve something and they dont do protein shakes like the low carb ones like we do pre op, the surgeons in australia have their patients on optifast for 2 weeks.

How did this response "deteriorate" into another discussion about The "C" word!  Ugh!

well because some people on this board are feeling like they are judged for how they eat, which is sad they should be able to post what they eat, how they eat with out that feeling bad or being judged

there should not be an issue with the word "c"  whether we eat that way or not... we are all out for the same thing to maintain our weight loss how ever we managed to lose it, what ever eating plan that got us here...

I personally eat low carb most of the time because i dont have the room not to if i eat protein first.. but i certainly have no issue hearing about how others got to their goal or how they eat... sometimes i envy them

giving food examples of how others eat lets others know they shouldnt feel bad its not an evil way to eat it works for more than just one or two.

Because carbohydrate should not be a dirty little word? Calling it the "c" word really doesn't help people who actually eat carbs feel more comfortable posting about it.

It was a JOKE!  Don't you think this whole "carb" thing has been beaten to DEATH here lately?  WE ARE getting NOWHERE with this.......low carb .....lower carb.......no carb....debate!  Everyone is individual......and must find what works for them.
The two people referenced in this post (and others\ posts here) are on opposite ends of this debate.  We ALL know their individual POV's.  If you do not......where have you been?  LIP  has ALWAYS been an advocate of not being "obsessed" over low carb eating.......I think she is quite comfortable discussing it (posting about it). My "joke" was intended for her. Part of my point is.....it HAS become a "dirty little word" to some people!    If you do not feel comfortable posting about it......that is your own issue.  Only YOU can allow someone to make YOU feel "bad" or "guilty"  about your choices/behavior.  If someone's "opposing" POV makes one feel "uncomfortable".......maybe one should ask themselves.....why?
BTW....notice I did NOT bring up the  "carb" debate.  This subject is a bit like religion....and politics!  I do NOT think we will  convert or convince those with opposing views.....to "come around"   At this point I think we are at the....."agree to disagree" stage of this subject.

Hmm. I'm not sure why you seem upset about discussing carbs. It doesn't bother me and doesn't seem any more beaten to death than any other subject on these boards. *shrug*

everybody is free to speak their truth and that's the way it should be. I have made the mistake of taking it all too seriously but usually I don't. I recommend the light-hearted approach for everybody.

some of us (you, me & Fawn come to mind) eat more carbs than most here. so what? doesn't have to be a big hairy deal.

but I understand sometimes it is. you notice I don't say "it's only the internet" because we are PEOPLE, no "just" anything so sometimes people get upset.

meanwhile - I'm putting same fruit in my oatmeal and calling it good. post on!

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.
