waist to height ratio

I started a thread about it on the MB

www.obesityhelp.com/forums/amos/4359416/talking-about-waist- to-height-ratio/  and it has a link to one of many sites that talk about it.

my main concern is they say you measure your waist one inch above your belly button and that is not where my extra fat is...it's a couple inches down. BOO!!

my new goal is to track those numbers (waist, belly button, and AMP or Area of Maximum Pooch) and improve them.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

Thanks for sharing. That's not where my extra fat is either. Interesting...I have an hour-glass shape and my waist to height ratio was in the healthy range before I lost my weight.

I have AMA (area of max ass) I too have an hourglass figure and even at 220lb, my waist was 33in, which would have put me in the healthy normal weight catagory.  We won't even discuss what my hip measurements were.

So it says I am a 42, extremely thin....again, they haven't seen my butt and thighs, LOL!

I think there is going to be a problem with any general formula that only measures one thing to determine your health, be it weight or measurement of a particular body part.  As we all know, everyone's weight is distributed differently.

yes, we are all different but looks like the fat at your waist is different than anywhere else - it's less healthy metabolically.

so if you are a pear instead of an apple? be proud! it's better for you!

and it may look better than you know - my vet has a biggish butt and in her tight jeans I think the men are all giving her the   she is pretty in general and it just suits her.

I have an hourglass figure also and my height to waist ratio is 40.

I cut and pasted this for women it is:

WOMEN
• Ratio less than 35: Abnormally Slim to Underweight
• Ratio 35 to 42: Extremely Slim
• Ratio 42 to 46: Healthy
• Ratio 46 to 49: Healthy
• Ratio 49 to 54: Overweight
• Ratio 54 to 58: Seriously Overweight
• Ratio over 58: Highly Obese
