List Your Super Foods !!!

I'd like to start a thread here that we can all list known "Super Foods"

The purpose would be to share foods with each other that we may have not know about or remind us of other foods we can add to our mix.

Edit: As we are mostly North Americans here.... we seem to be a very diverse group of many different cultures. A true sampling of what makes our Forum so great. Our group here also welcomes everybody in our Quest for the same goals.

As part of our commitment to WL and maintaining, the commitment to better health with better foods.

Can we start a list of known "Super Foods" ???

Lets not get completely stuck on Proteins vs. Carbs. Part of maintenance is finding out what our tolerances for different foods are. A certain number of Carbs are certainly something we need to consider.

For instance..... I'm thinking I can maintain on somewhere between 60-100 grams of carbs per day. What ever that number ends up as.... I want to eat the best carbs I can within my numbers.

I have added "Sweet Potato" as a snack a couple times a week. The Sweet Potato is a definite carb... but a carb that has so many other nutritional advantages. Many deem the the Sweet Potato as a Super Food.

Our list needs to be foods, drinks, spices, supplements..... anything that would be a positive addition to our current program.

Lets see where this goes..... Maybe it can become an FAQ for sublimates list.

*Note....Let's try for everyone to maintain and update/edit your own posts so we can keep the post count down.
*Edit 3-20-11 Wow... I knew I was in a food rut....lotta great foods have been listed already!

I should have been more clear....sorry....

Any foods, drinks, spices, supplements..... that has helped you in your weight loss or maintenance or a food you feel that has far more benefits than negatives.

The only thing I want to put out there is dong quai tea.. My moods were all over the place when I was losing, and even still now more than they used to be, and this tea really calms me and evens me out.. I recommend any women on here who feel hormonal or crabby to give it a shot..

Eta: kefir.. I make my smoothies with it!

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

Fawn, I am going to check this out for SURE.

one of my super foods is almonds - the perfect thing for a mid afternoon snack, feeds the hunger without making me tired.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

goodness, how expensive can it be? but if it helps with hot flashes...I don't have PMS (honest) but I have hot flashes like crazy. sort of in streaks: none at all and then several every night.
