Emotional Eating has been going on for 2 days

We were visiting my parents/brothers in Illinois yesterday when we got a call that my husband's 59 year old sister was critical and they were calling in the family.  8 hours later we arrived in Omaha. We didn't want to stop to eat, so we had nuts and trail mix in the car.

They waited until we got there to disconnect the machines.  All nighter at the hospital with junk food abound.  I don't think I ate too much, but it's certainly ALL I ate yesterday.  This morning, they brought in donuts.  It was the first donut I've had since surgery.  Then they brought ham sandwiches and chips.  I did eat the ham and tossed the bread.  At a handful of corn chips.

THEN, we left Omaha about 2 PM today.  She was still holding her own.  They said it could take another 24 hours before she passes.  We left because our daughter is having surgery tomorrow morning.  She has Crohn's and is having some of her colon removed.  It was soooo hard to leave Omaha to come to Des Moines knowing it would be the last time we would see Colleen alive.  But we need to be here for our daughter.  More emotional eating for me.  I just ate some spinach artichoke dip and trail mix.  Guess that wasn't so bad, but the "chips" I ate it on were a no-no.  Tomorrow, another all day-er at a hospital.  So I'm sure it won't be healthy or correct eating again.  At this point.  I don't really care.  I'm completely emotionally and physically exhausted.

Please keep our family in your prayers.

Wanda
Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Wanda, my heart goes out to you and your family during these trying times.  You all are in my prayers.

I know it's hard to eat the right way when A. You're away from home and B. During times of great stress.  Just remember to take care of yourself, drink lots of fluids, and I'm sure you'll get back on track as soon as it's possible.

I'm so sorry that you are going through all of this.   Completly understandable that your eating routine is out of whack.  My bff of over 30 yrs died right after Thanksgiving and i'm still struggling with motivation issues.  Sometimes life throws curve balls at us and we just have to do the best we can.   My prayers for you and the family.   Hoping all goes great tomorrow for your daughter.  :o) Jeani

I'm so sorry ya'll are going through such tough times. Perhaps on your way to the hospital you could make a stop at the grocery store to pack a lunch.

Oh honey.. Your bad days are better than some of normal days. Please stop beating yourself up, and just try to get through all this. It is a lot to handle. I hope your daughter's surgery goes smoothly. My BFF is having her adrenal gland removed tomorrow because it has rumors- this is their third attempt at this.. Ugh.. Big hugs to you, and peace to your family!

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

Wanda I am so sorry you are going through so much right now. Seems like way to much to deal with at once. And I don't blame you a bit for the donut or other things. It happens.

All day at a hospital can be pretty rough on the eating. Spent 5 days at Mayo Clinic with my brother and you wouldn't believe what unhealthy food they had there!  You may not have much time but grab some almonds and string cheese and take a protein drink so you have some options. Most hospital cafeterias have fat free yogurt. But if you make some less than ideal choices, so what. Its only a couple of days worth and you are only human.

Rest assured that you have a lot of friends out here who are thinking of you and wishing you and your family the best and a good outcome for your daughter.

Diane

i  hope all goes well for your daughters surgery, it must be hard to be going through so much stress, i wouldnt worry to much over it, once your daughter is safely out of surgery and recovering then maybe you can look at your food...

Im sorry that your going to lose your sister inlaw its never easy when we lose family.. my thoughts are with your and your family.
