A question of inches

Hi Diane,
I don't know what my legs measure now, but can I just tell you to stop worrying about it.  I know it bothers you, but I saw a picture of you in your sparkly jeans, and you look healthy and beautiful. Non of us are ever going to look "perfect".  We lost too much weight for that to happen and none of us are sixteen anymore.  I am so sorry this is causing you angst when what you should be feeling is incredibly proud of your accomplishment.  I know you are proud and thankful.  I just wish I could erase this for you.  Your legs can now do all the things they are meant to do.  They and you are really healthy for the first time in a long time, at this stage in life, that is the only really important part.  Enjoy them, while you got them.  I am not preaching, I am just wishing this peace for you because you deserve it.

Hi Elina
Don't worry, I am feeling fine about my legs. Just got curious if mine are really that skinny compared to others as I suspect they are pretty normal sized for a person of normal weight and my height of 5'4".  So just thought I would see if anyone else has measured and what a normal range might be. Believe me I don't have bird legs and am not obsessing. I am indeed happy to have two healthy legs that work just fine. Started doing some excersises to strenghten calf muscles today. Whether they result in any change in size is irrelevant; just want the strength and tone.

I may have mentioned before that for years and years if I had to squat down (like to find something in the bottom of the refrigerator) I couldn't stand back up without grabbing on to something or getting on one knee to get up. Now I can just stand up. So the leg issue is cool I think. Was just wondering what an average size was.  No more angxt here. Over it.

Diane

My calves are small like yours 13", my upper thigh is 21" like Brandi's...probably from working out a lot, and my butt/hips is 36.5".  But my waist is 26.75"...nice and small the way I like it.  No one ever accuses me of being too skinny!

Hmm.. my calfs are 13 inches, and my thighs are 19 inches.. and since we are talking booties.. my butt is 38 (waist 28).. lmao.. oh, and I am 5'5

ETA: funny.. I have always been told my legs are "curvy"... almost the same size as yours, and you get "too skinny"... perception is so funny!

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

My calves are 12.5" and the widest part of my upper thigh is 19".  My booty is 36", too.  I'm 5'2" and I think my legs look shapely, not skinny.

Edited to add:  Good thing I keep a tape measure in my purse for emergencies like this!

I'm 5'2" and 55 years old.  VSG 3/17/10
