((((((Elina)))))))   no one person is right about everything and certainly not a doctor - LOL!

for myself I believe I am addicted to certain behaviors rather than the food itself but there is an excellent case to be made for sugar addictions.

if you think you are addicted to food then you are, IMO, and whatever works for you in thinking about it is what WORKS. that's what's important.

big hugs, and we do understand.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

I figure my addictive tendencies teach me a lot about myself.  Hating bits and pieces of me was never helpful before.  I do not think about it as being doomed, just aware!

When did you first find these boxes of delightfulness and start your habit?  2ish months ago?  after that ?

I started on it this month.  Are you thinking it could be responsible for that extra pound or so? You could have a point.  The pound did come before the seaweed, but it could explain the fact that the pound will not leave voluntarily.

Hmmm.  Yea, I was.  I had a hopeful eureka moment!  Durn.

You know your hopeful eureka moment started me thinking, always a dangerous thing....
Although I started eating the seaweed about a month ego, the obsession with it is only about five days old.  I mean I would eat a box a day, no big deal as it is only 60 cals. But in the past five days or so it got progressively worse.  Well the other thing that got progressively worse is PMS.  Eureka!  I am craving the crunchy salty foods.  Before VG, I would just eat chips or pretzels. Since VG, I would not do that to myself, but seaweed seemed so safe.  I gave myself permission to "use it" .  Today is day two of my cycle, and guess what, I don't crave seaweed.  It's the hormonal swing with the head issues together that feed the monster.  So now, I need a plan for next month.  Any suggestions?

Also, I am amazed at the power of this board to help me untangle my craziness, but it is way cheaper than therapy and nobody is complaining yet.  :)

It helps to have fresh eyes not so attached to what we are doing as to not see it some things!

Maybe see if you can draw a defining line around its use?  Ask yourself, about something else, same calories maybe, so nutrition wise apples to apples - what is a REASONABLE amount (one serving a day? Five servings a day?)  And say maybe, I dunno, maybe the week before your cycle you can have up to ? a box a day? (I really have no concept of the "boxes" are they 50 servings? 3 servings?).

Maybe look at it when you do not have krazy Kaa eyes about it and ask the question, what is a reasonable amount, without rationalization, without justification?

 Krazy Kaa eyes!!

And answer "what is reasonable?"  Maybe determine reasonable by servings and how many servings of your chips or pretzels or whatever other crunchy goodness you were having to suit your crunch monstah?

Pssst.. look what BlueSkyDay found!

http://books.google.com/books?id=Nl2bfrlGW4AC&lpg=PR1&ots=Fr kuEEWBTi&dq=%22thin%20commandments%22&pg=PR4#v=onepage&q&f=f alse

Its the 10 thin commandments on google books, its the book without the diety part (which is too carby for me anyway) but see the table of contents and see if maybe doing a skim of his commandments you can find a tool that helps you figure out a strategy!?

Special thanks to BlueSkyDay HOOPLEDEERAY FOR BLUESKYDAY!!! *sparklefingers*

Seaweed washes up on the beach here each day and is racked away by village council and used as fill for lots... lol

Maybe I could grab some before they get to it and start a business down here!

Hugs,

Cindy

Seaweed is one of those things that I am not remotely tempted to try. LOL

I can tolerate is in sushi but I don't really *like* it.
