VSG Maintenance Group
Dr. Cirangle's Support Group meeting.. Lots of INFO from his meeting
Thank you!!! I'm excited that I am so close, but the weight loss has slowed down. My original goal was 120, but when I reached that, I decided to try for 110 lbs. I am only 4'11, so 110 lbs should be a reasonable goal, but even if I don't reach it, I am happy where I am at.
You have made great progress and will be at your goal, before you know it.

So if we are on 20 grams of carbs for life, what was the point of having the sleeve in the first place? If I had just done Atkins and stayed on induction, I could have maintained the weight loss indefinitely.
If the whole point of maintenance is to stay low carb, which it seems to be for me, I'm not sure what assistance the sleeve itself is offering.

Only speaking for myself, the fact that my hunger is not a RAGING hunger is a huge point of the sleeve, finally being able to actually FEEL full. But, again, my hopes going into surgery was that my hunger would be lessened and some would finally be enough.
I do understand what you are saying about the low carbs forever, maybe I am just lucky that I do not have the same roaring, panicked hunger as before? I dunno!

It's supposed to help with portions/appetite, and make it easier to stay on low carb I guess. I was on low carb for a long time, but because I could eat such large portions I didn't have a ton of success. In the beginning it was more helpful but as time went on I would maintain or lose very slowly due to high calories.

I don't believe that Dr. C believes that people should keep their carbs down that low. He told me to eat up to 40 g. of carbs. during the losing phase and 50-60 carbs now. I find this a great deal more doable. I think he would recommend (like he did for MacMadam) more carbs for people who exercise more.

I find the difference like putting out fires W/ a straw.....or fire-hose! Both will work (convey water from point a-b) One method is MUCH more effective! don't know about you.....I'll pick the fire-hose!
