Whoever invented carbs should be shot
I think high corn fructose is evil, its in almost everything here in america even "healthy" foods lol... why do i think its evil because for the same sweetness it comes with a punch of more calories for every serving..
go to countries like canada, new zealand you would have a hell of a job trying to find it in any product.
I have noticed companies who have removed it from food items have dropped the calories of serving by up to 20 calories... that might not sound alot but it sure adds up considering the amount of things they have added it to, and if you think how many of those items we ate pre surgery how many pounds were added to our waist lines by companies using it to save money.
Im trying to cut it out in food even my husband eats and see if by doing that it will help his weight too..
dam it was even in his all bran LOL so no more kellogs products for me haha..

I agree - we wouldn't even know what it was here!!
Pretty sure it will needle its way in though. We also don't have anywhere near the fast food joints you guys have - we have no Wendy's, Taco Bell, Panera, etc etc - we pretty much only have KFC, McDonalds, BurgerKing. McDonalds came to NZ 20 years ago and prior to that we never ever put mayonnaise on burgers!
Mind you we are ramping up the obesity scales as we are also a country that has a very high tendency towards anything deep fried and love carbs - pies, milkshakes, ice creams etc etc.

Look what a discussion you set off Deon! Makes for interesting reading.
The carb controversy is alive and well. Its one reason I was trying to ask Dr. C about whether some people are more carb sensitive or tolerant or however you want to say it as it seems to be the case but my evidence is purely anecdotal. There are probably some studies out there and if not, there should be.
Anyway, here are the two things I know about carbs:
1. I am a person who needs to restrict them pretty significantly in order to maintain normal weight.
2. Jimbo has a donut fettish.
Thats all I know.

The thing is, if people keep their CALORIES the same but include more carbs, they will not gain weight, other than the initial water weight associated with carbohydrates.
I dont' recommend this or anything because hitting protein and fat numbers is way more important than eating carbs, but my point is that it's total calories that matter as far as fat gain is concerned.
(not taking into account triggers/cravings/etc)

I've seen varying statistics and I'm sure it depends on what you are measuring. 1 in 4 Americans are insulin resistant to some degree. 75-85% of obese people qualify as carb addicted.
