Why do carbs taste so bloody good?

Who invented the stuff? Seeing as we do not need them

I hope his fingers change into fish hooks and he gets a terrible itch where it hurts.

Haha.

I think whoever gave me the impression I could live on them and not suffer consequences ought to be shot!

Wait!

That would be me.

I believe that would be God :-)

Of course there are healthy, natural carbs (thank you, God) which we do need; and then there are crappy, garbage, processed junk food carbs (curses on them!), which are what I crave.  *Sigh.*   The battle continues!

I doubt that he did!  Nor did he intend for us to take wheat and turn it into Twinkies ... or corn and turn it into Cheetos!  Ha ha, indeed :-)

Well "God"  may have given us the  "materials"  (bricks)   but man has built such an alluring structure with them.......bread....pasta.....cake.......cookies......donuts!  We are Sooo adept at destroying ourselves!

In that case, I'm glad you don't own a gun! I love carbs and cannot go without at the very least 75 grams per day, many days I consume 150 grams. I did low carb many years ago on Atkins and would get loopy. Carbs are MY friend.

I am not sure ANY food in EVIL (except cooked peas I hate cooked peas, nasty, evil, gross, vile little buggers).
I know I am so different from most folks in this group and as such a often get demonized or ignored but I do not go away.
I am a strong proponent of having ALL foods in my life and making peace with myself and food. Yes that was a hard struggle, Yes it continues to be a struggle, No I do think I am blessed, or special and I damn sure do not think anyone should be jealous of me.
What I do strongly believe is that when we live our lives/diet from a deprivation mentality we set ourselves up for failure. When we severely restrict our diets in any way we set ourselves up for failure in my experience and opinion and in the opinion and experience of the registered dietician/nutritionist that I have worked with for years that does have vast experience with both bariatric patients and folks with eating disorders.
I allow for carbs in my diet, generally around 100 gms same as my protein but, keep in mind I am a hiker. When I am not hiking regularly I eat somewhat less carbs but I do NOT restrict carbs. This does NOT mean I am eating  boxes of cookies or cartons of ice cream though there is room in my life/diet for both. There are  some foods that I don't keep in the house because I would over indulge I am not immune from that but it does not mean they are totally forbidden.
I had the sleeve so I could have a full life and that mean a full life including being able to eat normal sized portions or normal foods with mindful intent.
Whatever you do is it truthful, necessary and kind?

I agree. I'm sure there are others out there who feel the way we do Liveinphnx. I respect other's opinions and there are some who have severe sensitivities to carby foods and in their minds carbs are the devil. That is just THEIR truth and what they post about. I understand where they're coming from, though it may not resonate with me.

As a sleeve vet please keep saying whatever you feel. All you can do is speak YOUR truth.
