My periods became even heavier after WLS, not sure if this was coincidence or related to the surgery.  I finally had a Mirena IUD placed and it has really helped, although the first few months I was very irregular and sptted a lot.

Are you still happy with your Mirena? I have been thinking about getting one placed.

I am - the spotting, for about three months, was kind of annoying, but seems to have subsided. And it has totally resolved the hemmorage-like bleeding and heavy cramping that I was experiencing.

No more super plus tampons + heavy pads.

Mirena - best thing ever - for me anyway. I'm just about due for a new one (which I will be happy to get!) but it has been great!

After the birth of my twins I had seriously heavy periods and was very anaemic , i got a mirena and after slightly frustrating 'settling' time (they don't seem to work instantly) I enjoyed being period free for about 3 years and now they are very light.

Yes the average period for an ovulating woman is about 21-34 even 45 days.  AFter I lost weight I am very average with 27-30 days.

Hmm ok. I'll have to look into these suggestions. I don't have a heavy period at all. It only lasts for 4-5 days and is moderate for a day or two then very light for 2 more days or so. And I rarely have pain or cramping. Sometimes a teensy bit but not much.

Thank you for the responses!
