Females...period questions

I bet the men read this anyway. haha

Ok, so my cycle has always been every 5 weeks. After surgery, it went to every 4, then 5, then back to 4 for several months. Now I have my period again and it's only been 3 weeks!! wth??

I am not eating low calorie anymore - I've been eating at maintenance for a good 4-5 weeks now (roughly 1800 cals a day). I've not gained or lost any weight. I only work out 3-4 times a week, one hour each session which is not much. So I'm sure it's not due to my diet or exercise....?

If your cycle was funky after surgery, when did it normalize? I can never tell when it's coming because it's so irregular and it drives me crazy. 3 weeks is a bit ridiculous, I'm already not happy about 4.

(I do not take any birth control and really dont' want to but I will if I have to)

For me, how I count my cycle is the day after my period is day 1.  I can start anywhere from day 21 to day 32.  its never been on the nose unless I was on the pill, but it has not changed terribly drastically, its still anywhere from 21 to 32 days after the start of my cycle.

So, there's that!  Not sure if that was helpful information or not.

That's how I count mine. Day 1 is the start of the period. So it's normal for it to sometimes be 5 weeks and sometimes be 3 weeks? What a pain! lol

Maybe I should get on some bcontrol. I just don't want it messing with my hormones. Hmmm.

I do not know if its normal across the board for everyone, but that is how its been since 11/2009.  I did not count before then and only started after because I was having a weird and painful breast lump and was trying to see if it came and went with my cycle.

Also to add I have had a Novasure ablation, so cycles come when they do, but "heavy" now is laughable compared to heavy before the ablation.

If you are not planning on doing any more procreation and can get one, I give them the three snaps up in Z formation.  Fuh reals.

Was the ablation covered by insurance?  Do I have to a documented history of heavy periods or can I just go to the ob/gyn and whine :-)   ?

Yes it was!  GO, whine, threaten to bring in kitten sized clots!

I had the Novasure, which is one that you can still be having a heavy cycle and they can use. Some of the others they will try and stop your periods with hormones so you can be not on your cycle when you have it, but with the novasure its perfect for folks who cannot stop, which is duh..why you want it!

I don't like how hormones mess with my brain, so this is perfect.

For the first year I had spotting for 2 days. I could honestly wear a panty liner and it would not get funky.  Then after a year it totally stopped!

But just for a year. :}  But a heavy day does not fill a menstrual cup (I have a conspiracy theory about tampons, and do not use them, but that's neither here nor there) and I might have a bit of back cramping (my cramps have changed as I have matured) but nothing nothing nothing like before.

Ask! Poke!  Whine!  Threaten!

My period is definitely very steady since I started losing weight in '09. I am now a true moonchild as my period is without fail every 30 days. I can confidently put it on my calendar in advance.

I think maybe you're right about exercise and diet affecting your cycle. You might need to be in your routine for a couple of months to see what's what.

Sorry honey at the ripe ole' age of 30 I decided I did not want a period anymore :0

I have been without one ever since!  I had a partial hysterectomy, best thing I ever did!

Before that I was every 28 Days to the letter.

Take care,

Cindy
