Strange Couple of Days
Thursday's catastrophic earthquake in Japan must be a nightmare for those directly affected and my heart goes out to all. Still thinking of you Jimbo and Frisco.
Its amazing how far reaching the effects of such an event can be. I was up late Thursday night working on some business for our art gallery when I heard the quake news. I live on the north coast in California and had an early routine mamogram appointment for Friday. Awoke to news of expected tsunami for the north coast at about the time I would be driving by the bay. People in the low lying areas here were told to evacuate and the amber alert signs on the 101 warned of the risk. North of here the Crescent City harbor was pretty well trashed and we had some tsunami related surges here but no damage reported. Went to my appointment and got through in record time because about half the people had canceled. Afterwards went to Starbucks only to find it closed due to tsunami risk! Went to drop things at my art gallery only to find it closed because the scheduled worker had to stay home with a child because schools were closed due to tsunami risk.
People from low lying areas moved inland all along highway turnouts and even in people's yards in some of the hilly areas near the coast. Our art studio's street was blocked by the police for a time as its close to the bay and is probably about 10 feet above sea level. We had our scheduled art opening in the evening at the gallery and it was well attended but all of us gallery members were on edge and feeling off kilter.
So its amazing how small our world really is and how disaster in one area impacts everyone. Hoping that those with family and friends in Japan receive encouraging news soon.

I am saying prayers for everyone affected, the death toll in Japan keeps going up. it's an unstable world, in a very literal way!
once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
PM me if you are interested in either of these.
