This latest tragedy/catastrophic  event........hits very close to home for me!  For those of you that don't know my mom is "native" Japanese.  My aunts and cousins live there......we have no "word" on how everyone is!  It is very scary.....frustrating....and stressful....especially for my mom.
Events like this REALLY  make us "take stock" of our lives!  It makes me more "appreciative" of "my" life......as things could be FAR worse!  At the same time I am in "awe" of the "forces of nature!"  No matter how far we think we have come......we get slapped W/ a reality check.....that tell us "WE CANNOT.......ARE NOT....IN CONTROL!!
My heart goes out to the people affected by this event.  I'm not a "religious" person....but I welcome/appreciate prayers...positive thoughts.... ..A collective  energy of healing and "well wishes" as you will....  for these  victims!  Thanks!

BTW....Frisco I hope "all is well" W/ your family and friends there!   Still waiting to hear about the status of mine.

Jim, I have been thinking about you and Frisco a lot these past two days.  I am rocked by this tragedy and can't seem to walk away from the TV.  I hope all your relatives and Frisco's friends and relatives are well.  It is at moments like these that I realize how fragile life is and how much we have to be thankful for. You and Frinsco are high up on that list for me.  I send you my prayers, good wishes and healing thoughts.  My children's school is sponsoring a drive to help those in need there, I will be sure to think of your relatives when I help with the drive.

Jimbo, this event is tragic and heartbreaking and we will be remembering you and family in thought and prayer. If its any comfort, remember that the Japanese are about the most well prepared and organized society in the world for dealing with earthquakes like this. Many forms of communication are disrupted and the other forms are no doubt overloaded so there is every hope that you family members are fine. But my heart breaks for those who are not and all the devastation to a country I visited some years ago and found to be impressive and  like no other place on earth.

Indeed, Mother Nature has her own agenda and we don't have much influence on it. We can only control how we react. So I truly hope that your family members are all right and that we all take a lesson from this to live life to the fullest (which does NOT include stuffing our faces) and to appreciate the gifts we have.

Please update when you hear any news.

Diane

Keeping your family and all others in my prayers.  It was a horrible thing to happen.  I can't begin to imagine what they went through.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Frisco. This has all been so scary and devastating. I keep thinking the bay area is due for a big one any day now. With New Zealand just weeks ago it seems like we are having an increase in earthquakes these days.
