Stress = ice cream?
This has been a very stressful week for me and I find myself craving foods I don't usually eat. Right now I am sitting here craving, contemplating, OK drooling over the prospect of having some mint chip ice cream. I am not going to do it. Here are the reasons that I am going to win this battle today: 1) I don't have mint chip ice cream in my refrigerator (smart girl), 2) I checked in with myself and I am not hungry, I don't want lean protein, damn it, I want ice cream, 3) I just made myself some vanilla chai tea with soy-milk and splenda and although it is by no means ice cream, it will take the edge off, 4) I would rather type this up than eat the ice cream, 5) as I am typing this, I begin to realize, that I don't really want ice cream, I want to feel pampered and relaxed. I feel that I DESERVE some kind of a treat. Crazy thinking, I know, but that is the root of the problem. I need to come up with some non caloric way to have a treat. How do you guys satisfy these feelings? Something tells me it's going to be about shoes, bags, and jewelry, but that's just my guess.
I know a massage place open until 9pm. I take hot baths with bubbles, candles, hot tea.

Sorry Elina, but my response to your subject line:
Stress = ice cream?
was "Of course!"
I had a very trying time with some friends and being caught in the middle of their dispute. I gave in last night & had some. Fortunately, it was included in my "calorie count" an was the low-fat kind. I have to admit that it tasted VERY GOOD!
Glad to hear that you are taking a better road than me. Good for you!

It's great that you could keep it within your calorie count for the day. I think as long as you are not mindless about it, and it doesn't cause you binge later, you are just fine. I know for me, if I give in, I will only want more of it later. As it is I have been eating the seaweed snack like they are going to run out of it at TJ's. I think I need to put seaweed on my restricted list. Who would have ever thought seaweed could be a problem? I guess, there is a reason I was 100 lbs. heavier not that long ego.
Hot tub!
