Jimbo's Post
For those of you that did not see his post on the board earlier today I would enourage you to check it out.
It is one of the more level headed, reasonable discussions on carbs and eating post op that I have seen in a long time.
It encompassed many different viewpoints not only the "we must eat less than 50 gms of carbs or we will surely regain" viewpoint.
Please everyone do yourself a favor and check it out.
Whatever you do is it truthful, necessary and kind?

Hey Phoenix,... I'm not seeing it...this board? Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks a bunch,
Jax
It has many differeing views about eating carbs the good the bad the ugly. Ironically my 100 gms of carb daily is not really high carbs at all but actually low since most "normal" folks consume between 200-300 gms per day which I was not even aware of.

Phoenix... I just gave my 2 cent on page 5 of that topic. Curious to see what you think of it?For me it is about being happy and healthy physically, spiritually and emotionally and not being a slave to the scale or our looks.

I think it's helpful for pre-ops and folks early out to hear that not everybody is the same.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
PM me if you are interested in either of these.

I personally think that we are all different with ages, tolerances, metabolisms and we all have to find what will and will not work for each of us... I do like the idea of having some carbs in my diet, i went low carb in the losing phase but i had to, just to get it off... i like adding my oat bran for breakfast not only because it tastes good, and is filling and low cal, but it keeps me regular and for me that is important.
I am envious of you lieinphx because i love walking and would love to get into hiking the weather where i am is not so good for that in winter, but hopefully in summer i can get started...

True enough living in Phoenix makes being a avid hiker much easier than in many other places. Of course hiking in the summer months here is a challange even if one hikes at 5 AM it is still usually over 100 degrees.
I am THRILLED to see more folks talkinga about eating more carbs. I am NOT suugesting folks post op (new or old) start loading up on crappy foods.
I AM suggesting that folks CAN be successful even if they are eating in a way other than very low carb.
I am suggesting that very low carb is not the ONLY path to the summit.
I am suggesting that not everyone who is overweight and/or has had WLS is insulin resistant.
I am suggesting that folks CAN become active and when the are active they may be able to consume more healthy calories and carbs and may even learn the enjoy having ana active lifestyle.
I am suggesting there is more than on path to the summit.
