7 Months Out and a SURPRISE!

First off, I'm feeling great and I'm beginning to feel happy about how my body looks, skin is getting better every day.  At my six month check up my labs were all good and I guess I got a little too confident with how my health has progressed.... On Valentine's Day, I (we, my husband and I) made the decision that "just once" wouldn't be the end of the world if we didn't use protection... we knew the risk and were willing to accept it.  Well, I guess my mom was right when she drilled into us growing up that "it only takes once".... just found out that I'm pregnant!  Part of me is super excited because I really did want to have another baby as soon as possible (like 6 months from now).  However, I'm just nervous that I'm somehow putting this baby in jeapordy.  So, now my whole mind set of less is more with food has to change overnight and my new focus is on well balanced nutrition to feed a growing baby!  Guess I won't be seeing my goal weight anytime soon, lol... better take some pics quick before I get a baby bump, lol.  Please don't lecture me, I obviously knew this was a possiblily and on some level I think I probably hoped it would happen... and a new journey begins!

You can live a very healthy lifestyle while pregnant.  A baby weighs 7 or 8 lbs, no need to gain 40.  Eat proteins, colorful veggies, some whole grains... and take all the proper vitamins.  Why am I telling you this?  You've done this before!  You are not putting this baby in jeopardy!  You are going to give this baby a healthy start and you're going to be around a long time to raise him/her... or both!   Congrats!

Current weight: 170 lbs.

Once I reach goal, this cow will be killed & eaten... 2 ounces at a time.

Total includes 56 lbs. lost on 2-month low carb pre-op diet.  Start date 9/13/10.

Congratulations on your expected new child!  And I remember Dr. Jossart talking about this at support group and telling that they had at least 60 patients who had healthy children after weight loss surgery and a number of them came along earlier than might be ideal because loss of weight seems to increase fertility for some. And these babies are fine too. You have lost most of your weight and will probably have a healthier pregnancy because of it and more energy to take care of baby and chase the toddler when the time.

My niece (who has a lapband) continued to lose weight during her pregnancy and the baby was fine. You just need to monitor everything and eat healthy.
