Protein level labs update (for labs)
You know I dunno, and I am loathe to ask it on the exercise board, because I just do not ever really get much response at all over there. And it would make sense for the malabsorptive folks to possibly have some protein issues ya know?
I know one DS chick was talking that she does not count any of the protein she takes except the shakes and that is how she makes sure she does not have issues.
With 3 shakes and 3 whites per shake that gives me a little over 100 g of protein alone, so, I guess we will see.
Today I started with the eggwhites in the shakes and it will be interesting what May labs show!

It is mostly runners on that board anyway, if that matters. I'm more curious about how our bodies handle protein post sleeve as far as bodybuilding goes.
I'm still terrible about getting all of my protein, to be honest. I have been slaaaaaaack. I need to be getting around 120g-150 g but some days I only get like 70 or 80. I have to supplement with shakes but I got tired of shakes.

Did you get your yearly labs and were they fine girlie?
I realized, I was not lifting at my 1st year labs, I had stopped and had not been lifting for months, and had only lifted for 3 months, the 6 months before my labs, so I cannot imagine those atrophying muscles (because I stopped for work) were eating up all that protein I was consuming.
*shrug*
A mystery.

Just an update - in case it comes up for anyone else
I dropped the shakes down from 72g a day (3 shakes) to 1 after zumba or working out and started with the HCL/digestive enzymes ONE month before I had my annual labs drawn.
When I did the labs at 1 year and 9 months (self pay) the protein was 6.8 - I kept on doing what I had been doing until 1 year 11 months, then dropped back on shakes and added HCL/Digestive enzymes, in case the problem was that I did not have enough acid in my tum to break down the protein to utilize it properly.
At 2 years, 1 month after the hcl/digestive enzyme it was down 0.2 which if you just look at it in a vacuum is only a smidge, but 3 months of smidges and I am at low normal and 4 months of smidges puts me right back below low normal.
Soo. Back to at least 70 grams of bioavailable protein via shakes a day (I found some higher calorie but higher protein/lower carb ones) and that is that.
It was sure nice getting to nosh that extra 500 calories a day though! :} Nom!
Good thing I *meant* whatever it takes!
