XP-Food Container ideas for a field trip

Yea!! I'm going on a field trip with my 9 year old grandgirl's school on Friday! 100+ 3rd graders, should be lots of fun!!

My delimma is
food storage. I usually eat chicken salad for lunch but I'm not sure how to store it so it wont go bad before we eat lunch. Normally I take my food/snacks to work in either ziplock bags or plastic/lidded container but I'm completely at a loss on this one. ANY ideas would be appreciated!

This will be my first field trip with a group of kids since WLS. The last one was 2 yrs ago to the zoo and thought I was going to die before it was over. Now I'm not worried, I know I can keep up with those little boogers!!

Thanks
Debby

Get a lunch bag and put your chicken salad in there with an ice pack...that will keep it nice and cold..then put it in a backpack so your hands are free? Or take a ready to drink protein shake that doesnt have to be ice cold. Have fun!!

You can also pack your ziplock bag in a larger ziplock with ice so that you can throw away everything.

That's exactly what I've done before and it kept my chicken salad perfectly cold.  I used a gallon sized ziplock and placed a bunch of ice in it, then slipped in a smaller ziplock baggie with  my chicken salad.  Worked great!

I use food thermoses to keep my food warm or cold as needed. You could also make my beef jerky recipe.

Even though I don't like to use them a lot, this might be a day for a protein bar or two plus a couple of single serving string cheese sticks. The sealed string cheese can go a long time without refridgeration and the bars are like bomb shelter food. Maybe take a few grapes or a clemintine for something not so processed. Or my favorite food to take to studio that needs no refridgeration is a piece of Flat Out low carb flatbread, cut in half and each half spread with almond butter or peanut butter. then i roll each one up so it looks like a fat cigar. the flatbread has 9 g protein as I guess they use some soy flour. Needs no refridgeration and can easly go in a plastic bag in a purse.
