Ok I am ready now... and a few random thoughts...
I think a lot of us are in the same shoes Cindy - damn Christmas is hard on a person! Right now, I can't even committ to even getting back on board completely. My kitchen is presently gutted and we have been invited out for supper 4 of the last 6 nights. It's very hard to refuse these kind offers from friends and harder to stay on track elsewhere. I am still making good choices for the most part and really haven't gained (and exercised more this week), but I just don't feel like I have the control required to actually lose weight. More excuses yet, the roads are full of freezing rain ****) and not expecting any relief in sight in this cold Canadian climate. Looking forward to spring!

Thanks honey, and sorry you are faced with these challenges, when you are ready, you will be back in the saddle, at least you have not gained... I hate it, and I recommend you avoid it... :)
I have no Canadian Climate excuse here in Paradise, so I am going for my walk, and looking forward to it, within the next hour or so.
I look forward to the control and weight loss again, I was feeling better than I have ever felt in my life, and I want that feeling back...

What a great post Cindy. There are some important lessons here for all of us. Your analysis is correct in that you are at a cross roads and you have chosen a good route for the future. Your plan is simple, to the point, and it would appear to be very doable. All critical elements for any lifestyle change whether large or small.
I know you can do this. You have already done it. Its within your power. You will succeed.

Me, stable? YOu gotta be kidding....oh, you mean't my weight. I get it. Actually I am still sort acting like I am in weight loss phase but just with upped calories and carbs a bit. So even though I am maintaining, i am only 15 months out and I really haven't hit THE WALL that it seems like people hit in years two or three where they experience some regain or stray from the ideal food regimine. It will happen to me one of these days I have no doubt. So I still journal and some days have protein drinks and do the stuff I did when I was losing. I don't have the magic answer; just haven't been hit with the full test yet.
And hey, maybe my scale is stuck!

You are right, I definatley did not mean YOU where stable!! No way no how :) I meant your weight...
If I did what you do, basically stay on plan all the time, I would continue to lose weight. My metabolism is so good. I have to really throw all caution to the wind to gain (at this point)... that is what I have been doing for the past couple of months...
It felt good today to restrain myself and go for my walk... it was easy... I expect the next 2 days to be a bit harder, then it will be easy again and smooth sailing, until I binge, and continue the cycle...
However, I just bought the book 10 Thin Commandments and I am going to read some of it every day, and try to stop the binging and the cycle... wish me luck :)

Yep, I am definitely unbalanced! Aren't we all. You are lucky to have a good metabolism. mine is slow as a snail. I had a resting metabolic rate test and it was 936 calories. my surgeon doesn't believe the test so I am going to have it retested in a few weeks just for the heck of it. Its cheap and I can do it at the local university.
Let us know what you think of the 10 Thim Commandments. I just got the book Shrink Yourself but have only read a few pages. Its one of Brandylyn's favorites.

I wonder what my resting metabolic rate would be, I have never had it tested, and I doubt they would know how to do that down here.... how is it done?
I have done the on-line Shrink Yourself Program, near the beginning of my journey. It is time to pull up the book I downloaded and read it. But first I am reading the 10 Thin Commandments, and it is already stiking a few cords and teaching me a few things... I think I am going to love it.
They are both books that I will refer or re-read for many years to come. It feels good to be back on track and today I was rewarded with a whopping 2 lb loss. Gotta love it!
lol Yes I am glad you realized I am just as unstable as you are, it makes us intersting and unique. Or at least that is my warped view of looking at it :)

Regarding the resting metabolic rate, they have this machine that you breath into for 20 minutes or so with your nose pinched so it gets all your breath. and you have to not have exercised for 10 hours or something and no caffeine and some stuff like that before the test. you have to sit very still and relaxed during the test. it is totally pleasant. Health clubs and places that cater to body builders have this equipment. I had it done at a place called Fitness Wave in southern cal, but there is a franchise called Bod Pod that does this and they are all over the US. There is one here in our small town at the university. So check at any higher end health club or college athletic facility if you want to find one. I am sure an endocrinologist would have such a thing or access but it would probably cost more. it wasn't very expesive - maybe$50 or something.

However, I am in Belize Central America!!! There are a total of less than 300,000 people in the whole country... like I said I doubt they have one here ;)
However, perhaps sometime when I am in the US or Canada I could find one and get it done... or not...
