My favorite snack - Nuts

I have eaten almonds EVERY day since surgery (well once I was on solids anyway).  I have seen on OH many people say to stay away from nuts.  I've lost 136 pounds in a year, so I'm thinking they didn't hurt me.  In fact my NUT told me to choose almonds or cheese for my snack because they contain protein and stay with me longer than fruit.  Almonds are also heart healthy.

I weigh 1 oz and put them in snack zip lock bags.  I eat the one ounce.  I make them last a while so they satisfy the crunch that I seem to crave.

This morning I read the following article.  Glad to see I haven't been doing something I shouldn't have.

Does anyone else eat nuts as their snack of choice?

Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

I eat pecans, walnuts, and pistachios on a regular basis.. a handful of any of those is one of my fave snacks..and they havent hurt me in the least.

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

I've got some pistachios too and once in a great while, I'll splurge and buy some cashews.

Are these cocoa dusted almonds sweet?  Once in awhile I'll buy the honey roasted almonds for a sweet treat, but these sound interesting.  Not sure I've ever seen them, but may not have been looking.

I ate nuts all the way through my losing phase as well...especially almonds!  They are high calorie though so measuring them is the way to go.  I think some people just lose control when it comes to nuts and nut butters.  That's why they stay away from them.

Oh I would lose control if I didn't measure.  I keep 2-3 snack sized zip locks in my purse for emergencies and take them to work too.

Yep, nuts are the best, especially almonds. I ate them all the way through loss phase and continue to do so. If you are what you eat, I am an almond. Buy those 3 lb bags at Costco. And my cinnamon almond recipe (have posted it before but will do so again if anyone wants it) was the thing that kept me from eating high calorie holiday goodies. those cinnamon almonds were a real treat.

And these days my eveing snack is a blob of peanut butter on a spoon. So satisfying. And they don't have cholesterol for those of us dealing with that issue. i think they raise the HDL good kind.

Guru Dr. Cirangle recommends eating 10 almonds as a snack. He says its really filling and satisfying and not that many calories. Well I don't stop at 10 but I am done losing. Anyway, nuts are da bomb and one of the foods nature intended us to eat. Ditto roasted pumpkin seeds.

Thanks for sharing the article.   Diane
