How long to reach goal???
Congrats on your upcoming surgery! To figure out how long before you get to goal, you must take into consideration that it depends on the amount you need to lose. Obviously someone with 100 or less lbs to lose will get there faster than someone who needs to lose 150 or 200+ pounds.
p.s. you can get a health tracker ticker right from OH. You should find it in your settings.
Okay, I am basing this on other people similar to your starting/goal weights - some have reached goal within 7-9 months. Of course, your mileage will vary. As for RNY, I have RNY friends that secretly tell me they wish they had a sleeve because of the quick weight loss and more "normal" anatomy.
p.s. you can do a search on the regular vsg board and go back several hundred pages and see people's progress :-D and gauge it a little that way
gosh I wouldn't even consider the rny if i were you. studies show the weight loss results are about the same and rny is a more complex extensive surgery with far more long term known side effects. the sleeve is so beautiful in its simplicity and how well it works. i think in a few years the rny will be totally passee. just my opinion, but don't chose rny just because you might think you will lose faster. you probably won't lose faster and it has all these other issues. gl diane

it took me about 10 months to lose 95 lbs (not counting the 17 pre op) to get to surgeon's goal. but i kept losing a little over the next three months. lost another 12 lbs. stable now. but don't get caught up in comparing your rate of loss to others. it just drives you nuts and is not productive. Good luck on your surgery. you will love the sleeve. diane
I lost roughly 130, give or take.
I lost 100 from April 10th till 2nd week in December; then took another 4 months (slow weight loss) to lose the last 30.
But in addition to this; it also will depend on what all you are putting into it: how strict to the rules of eating you adhere to; excercise; water drinking.
And . . . your own body and metabolism can have a strong say in this.
And one final thing I was told by my surgeon: RNYers lose faster in the first months; but by one year; total weight lost is similar between RNY and VSG. I personally noticed this to be true.

Took me about 6 months to lose 100lbs.. Good luck on your surgery!
I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!
