Earthquake Update - Awesomeness!!
You know in a tragedy you see the absolute best and the absolute worst come out in people. Well we have definitely seen this so far in the tragic situation we are facing here right now.
One of the most amazing things that has made me incredibly emotional and humbled is the teams of superstars that have come from all over the world to help.
The gorgeous Americans walking off the plane loads of equipment that they have bought with them. The fabulous Australians who have set up an entire portable hospital in the middle of Christchurch. There are teams of Japanese rescuers, Singaporeans, Chinese, British - just hundreds of beautiful people from all over the world who are working tirelessly to help.
It is well over 48 hours since anyone has been found alive - we have 113 officially dead but over 200 missing - which in a city of less than half a million is huge. There will be a large number of foreigners killed as it is a tourist town. We have a 26 story hotel teetering on collapse that -if it doesn't collapse on its own - will have to be demolished.
Back to the reason for my post - it makes us feel very loved seeing all the international rescuers and I feel so encouraged about the human spirit! Thank you for loving our little country! XX
