Help, cake problems

I would eat the cake, and calculate how many calories it is going to be and excercise those calories away, so they don't mean anything... A good 40 min spinnng session burns over 500 calories...., so eat the cake!  Just balance the calories in with calorie expenditure and you will be dandy  and be in total control!  It's the mindless eating that gets us..so plan ahead and enjoy that wonderful cake!

What I have to say has pretty much been said already. Eat the cake. The whole point in our surgery is to live normally. Obsessing over something is not normal. Just enjoy it and move on. You have lost this much weight, so you have the will power to loose, you have the willpower to only have one slice. Fit it in with your calories. And if you gain a fraction of a lb, then you know what to go to get it off. Personally, (And this is what works for me) I am very strict 6 days out of the week and one day I have whatever treats I have wanted throughout the week. I may have a piece of cake AND a donut all in one day. I think we all have to allow normal treats here and there like normal people or we will end up resentful at some point and this could lead to a bad binge and no one wants that. If it is something you enjoy, enjoy it in moderation.

I read a post of yours a few weeks back where you talked about eating what you wanted to eat...you just balanced it.  That actually made me feel normal for a VSGer (I thought I was all alone in that).  It also reinforced something my surgeon told me when I close to reaching my goal...people he has seen be most successful long term found a way to just make everything a normal part of what they did...they knew what they could eat and didn't obsess...it really became second nature and everyone was different.

So it seemed from your post that worked for you...don't make this any different.  Just make sure you eat protein and you are full before you eat it.  I guarantee you won't be able to eat more than a small piece and if you do eat more than that, you won't want to do it again.   Also, good tip I use from my nut....brush your teeth after you eat a very small portion....that way you feel satisfied and the taste doesn't linger and tempt you.n  Another way to look at it is...just increase your exercise that day to balance it.

In my former life, I would approach this typically as "that's my favorite and I must eat some, then save some for later, then hide the rest from everyone else".  As a recovering over-eater...one thing that helps me keep control is knowing that I can have a few bites of something, leave or get rid of the rest and guess what... if I ever want it again I can buy or make more (or in your case have your mom make more).  Not sure this is for everyone, but this lack of focus and obsession over it makes it OK that I have 2 teaspoons of ice cream or a couple m&ms on occasion.  I eat it on a full stomach, i eat it slow and savor it.  Then let my family eat up the rest.

Not sure if this makes any sense to anyone but me (i know everyone has their own path), but I hope this helps.
