I promise, I will be right here to remind you.  This is what it's all about, having you guys to hold me up when I am not strong and being there for you when you need it.  We are so much stronger together than alone.  When I ask myself in the middle of the night, "why will this time be different", I list all of you as a big part of my answer.  Yes, I will be here to remind you, because in addition to helping you, I remind myself.  Thank you for helping me, and thank you for needing me too. I love our little community.

There is no way I could have something I was that fond of in the freezer

I have found this trick to really help me.  You wouldn't want to defrost something like cake in the microwave - it would be terrible.

For me, I have to plan it by calculating it into my daily calories, allow time for it to defrost, and then anticipate enjoying it.  So, when the time comes, it's a very small piece that has already been accounted for & I truely enjoy every bite.  No guilty feelings at all.

But, that being said, we have to all know our limitations and find what "works" for each of us.

Personally I wouldn't do it, but this is just my mentality from someone who is an extreme food addict. You are already having obsessive thoughts about this food and writing posts about it and you won't even get to eat it for 2 days. You already already worried about having too much of it.

For me that would be a sign to stay away. Even if you stretched eating it out for 20 minutes (for me it would be INHALED in 2 minutes), would those 20 minutes of pleasure be worth the amount of time you've spent writing your post and the responses and the very likely way you will feel after you eat that food?

How many days of guilt.. how much fear on the scale when you get on it the next day, how much time and energy and feeling will be invested by you for this 20 minutes of pleasure? Do you really need the taste of cake to help you remember your childhood? Can you meditate and go inside and remember those experiences?

Is this what will really nourish your soul? Will it nourish your body that you spent so much time working on? I know my opinion may not resonate with everyone but I hope you'll consider it, then either ignore my opinion or heed it, depending on what you believe in your heart will work for you. I just wanted to present another way of viewing this choice you are making.

Hugs...

I knew you would say this.  And you too have a point.  This reminds me of a Jewish joke.  A rabbi is listening to two opposing sides of a Talmudic argument.  After hearing the first one, he says, " You're right."  Then after hearing the second one, he says, "And you are right ."  Immediately, his wife says, " But husband, they can't both be right!"  To which the rabbi replies, "And you're right, too."

That is exactly how I feel about this topic.  You are all right.  I guess that in the end I will have to come up with a plan and stick to it.  I honestly don't know yet what it will be.

I think you'll spend a lot of time regretting and feeling bad and obsessing and being worried if you go the route of eating the cake, but that's just a guess of course.  It will threaten the peace and control that you have around food now.. a sort of abstinence induced calm.

Yes your mom won't always be there to make this cake.. my mom died and it was because of eating things like this, so for me there is NO SINGLE FOOD item that would be worth cutting my life a bit shorter for my son. Even if it took 15 years to bake. ;)

An alcoholic doesn't have special occasions they can drink and perhaps neither should carboholics, if that is what you consider yourself? If you go this route and you find yourself having bad feelings afterward you know I'll be there and I promise I won't say I told you so, but if you ever ask me about any cake again I will give you a soft kick in the behind with my ballet shoe. Just saying. :) Luv and hugs...

Elina...eat the cake!  You're stronger than a damn piece of food.  Your dedication to this new way of life and the scale is awesome!

When I am at the gym and there is a heavy weight looming in front of me...my trainer always says "nothin' but a peanut".  It's all mental and you've got what it takes to eat it and walk away...I know it.  Just always remember where you came from!
