Hello,

I'm  not sure what the word is on Extended release medications like Welbutrin XR and others extended release meds for us VSG'ers. Does anyone know if these meds work like thaey should or do they just pass through quickly?

You can still take extended release tablets after your surgery.

I am also interested in the answer. I found the PPI I've taken since surgery - omeprazole

doesn't work consistently anymore, then figured out they changed it to extended release

aha!  I crushed it and then it worked fine again - but the taste is horrible.

I switched to a pill that isn't extended release and am back to having consistent results but I don't like this option because it costs more.

so if anyone knows more, I'm asking too!

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

Theoretically, we shouldn't have issues with extended release pills. They release as they travel through the intestines and ours are exactly the same way they were before surgery.

But YMMV as Jackie found out.
