So, over the weekend my husband and I went out of town.. it was no happy occasion- we had to go to his grandfather's funeral. At the wake there were many family pictures of his grandfather going all the way back to the 1930's until just a few months ago.. The only picture in which I was included happened to be my wedding photo with my husband's whole family. When we married I was obviously much heavier... and I joked with him that people would think he had a second wife now...

Well, at the reception lunch after the funeral my husband's cousin came up to us and asked my husband if I was his new girlfriend... I was floored.. I laughed and had to just walk away... why was I quite to thrown by something that was almost expected? Because his cousin is the reverend who married us!!!!! Ha ha ha.. my hubby and I were still laughing about that yesterday. A little levity on a sad day is never a bad thing...

Also, while we were in town we met up with a few of my childhood friends that I had not seen since we were about 13. We walked into the bar and they immediately recongnized me and said that I hadn't changed a bit since I was little.. and one went on to comment that he hadn't realized I was so much younger than they were.. ha ha ha- I am not- I am actually about 2 years older than them!

All in all an interesting weekend...

Gotta admit this is pretty funny and glad it lightened the sad occasion. Hope your husband set the guy straight. maybe he just has poor eyesight and a worse memory.

Nice complements from the childhood friends. Always so fun to get a blast from the past. Indeed an interesting weeking. My sympathies on the loss of hubby's grandpa.   Diane

Oh I was the comedic break for sure- another woman in my hubby's family walked right up to me at the wake and said- someone told me you are Fawn.. you lost too much weight, you are a shadow of your former self..  Oh man.. my hubby was pissed, but I just chuckled.. she must have been 85 years old.. and imo, you live that long and you can say whatever you want! LOL

Thats a great NSV! I had a customer come into my office yesterday and she said.. "oh I didnt recognize you...what is different?" I always hesitate to say "oh I lost 80ish pounds" so I just changed the subject....then a few minutes later she said... "oh its because you didnt do your hair or makeup...thats why I didnt recognize you!" I was like WTF? I did my hair and make up...its just not quite as crazy as it was when I was heavier...I dont feel the need to hide behind it...CRAZY LADY!

People just crack me up!
