Frustrated
It's hard for many nutritionists because that's what they are taught in school. I was fortunate that I was always looking at non-mainstream nutrition for many years before I went to a formal school and so by that time I knew how to separate out the good info from the bad.
Sorry to hear about your BC and I'm glad you know about the soy issues. It's not great for weight loss either. I made it easy for you and just posted my recipes in my blog so you can find them. :)

In general, my surgeon wants people to lose 50% of their EW starting from day of surgery by 3 months and 80% by 6 months. For me, a lightweight, I lost 12 pounds the first month and I think the second too but after that I was "only" losing 6-8 pounds a week. OTOH, I got to goal in 6.5 months. So clearly that was a good clip for me even though someone starting at a much higher weight might end up losing 2-3x as many pounds as I did.
I also didn't eat nuts or much fruit either until I was pretty close to goal. But I did eat yogurt -- greek yogurt -- and reduced fat cheese sticks. In general, I tried to keep to under 45 g of carbs a day though. So I only ate those things if I could do that.
