That boughie size thing again
If I may offer my perspective on this as I have one of Dr. C's fabulous sleeves. From pretty early out I felt like my sleeve healed quickly and I had very little swelling. I was eating jello within hours of my surgery with no issues. I felt I was ready for mushies long before I was allowed to have them, I had no problem getting my protein in from day one, and my restriction has stayed the same since about month 2 until now.
I have tried to track my calories from day one, but I've slacked off here and there (doing much better lately). One day I noticed that I ate 600 calories and I was totally satisfied (although usually I'm at 800-1000). Another day I actually ate 1800 calories much to my chagrin, after grazing quite a bit on some nuts and not counting them until after I actually ate them.
My point is that even though my volume is essentially the same, there is a HUGE range in calories that I can eat with that same volume, as my example shows. I am used to low carb but have never really tried to lower my calories, so it took some adjustment to change some of my eating habits.
With a big thanks to Elina who gave me some tips to get my calories in line, my weight loss rate has actually sped up at 6 months out now that I am eating less calories than I did earlier out. I think my experience really shows what a person can do with their restriction with good choices, regardless of what their bougie size is.
I also think when I see people with lap bands or bigger sleeves, that have been successful, that they are to be admired because they probably worked that much harder to be successful.
