For those of you that are joining me, I want to thank you agian for helping me stay accountable and I wish you lots of success!  Again, I plan to do Atikin's Induction for a few weeks, then low carb until I reach my new lower goal.  Group Hugs!  Let's do this!!!

Surgery Date:  December 14, 2009
High:  299
Surgery day:  183
Goal:  165-175
Yesterday:  181
Today:  181

Random Thoughts:  I think I cut myself a break last night.  I've been so frustrated with doing all the right things but still not seeing any real progress of late.  Then I realized how far I've actually come and how happy I am with my appearance and healthy at this moment in time.

I think my real motivation to get even lower is to ensure that I have a buffer.  I, like so many of us, fear a gain.  And, because I travel so much and enjoy life a little too much when I do, I can always count on a gain while I'm away--and the cycle starts all over.  In my mind, if I can get to 165, then I won't freak if I give myself a 10 pound buffer for extended trips.  I don't like going up from where i'm at right now.

Hi There,

Ok, first of all I get what you are saying, AND I am going to throw something out there that may or may not sit well with you...

1.  You are happy where you are.
2.  You admit the 5 more pounds are not for the look, but for the buffer.
3.  What if you maintian here, then the times you go up, when you do extended trips, you just come back and get serious for awhile and lose the 5lbs.
4.  What is the difference if you have to lose from 175 down to 170, vs 170 down to 165 lbs...
5.  Perhaps maintaining her for a bit, will give you the break you need to enjoy your new body and learn about maintianing...
6.  Then if and when you decide you prefer to lose 5 more lbs, you do it...
7.  If it never comes to that, then you allow yourself to fluctuate between 170 -175... rather than 165 - 170...

Now having said all that, it would be the same as me fluctuating between 145 - 150 vs 140 -145... and I can't get over how much better I feel, since I have been on this damn 'diet' (I HATE dieting), I have lost 3.8 lbs, putting me back at the top of my comfort zone, and I can't get over how much better I feel and look.  Which is just plain silly on an almost 6 ft frame, but I swear I can see and feel the difference...

So, long story short, cut yourself some slack, do what 'you' want to do, for the reasons you want to do it.  Trust yourself and your body and go for the look and feel that are right for you.

I am so sorry, I know I am all over the map on this post, but I find that happens with me, I am talking to others and learning myself...

Big hugs and all the best either way,

Cindy

It was extremely sweet of you to put so much thought into your response to me, and I truly appreciate it.  I know my friends here can relate, and it helps so much.

I think your suggestion is sorta where I was at last night.  I felt a literal sigh of comfort--like this is okay, Theresa.

I'm going to continue with my calorie/protein/carb restraint as I have, and also continue with my exercise that I've found fits comfortably in my day to day activities.  We will see what happens.

And, yes, SpookyDoll, I've defintely found the way to shed that extra weight after every trip, and it feels both good to know I can lose it quickly and "stupid" to think "a week of real losing lost to losing what I already lost."  Crazy!??!!

Life is wonderful, and I appreciate you all very, very much!

Theresa

That is exactly what I do. I travel a lot (Though not as much you I don't think) and I am not going to deprive myself while I am gone. I know what needs to be done to take care of a gain and I can get all that weight off usually within a week. (My 2 year anniversary is coming up in May and since then I have been on 8 trips and managed to gain no more than 6lbs each time) and I get right back to it when I get home and the weight comes right off. Sometimes, I even loose a couple of lbs a head of time so that I don't have to loose as much when I get back!

Still the same but hanging in there.  I have improved my eating plan so I know it will eventually catch up with me.  Now to start thinking more about moving this body!  I know that is the key.

Dee,

I am so frickin' proud of you.  To eat right and keep going even when the scale is not rewarding you for your efforts is tough, and seems so unfair.  You are right just keep doing what you are doing, and if there is room to tweak it even a bit more go for it.

AND for me:
- water, water, water
-  walking 4 miles a day rain or shine

Grab your water bottle and get moving, do something you love, find something that after a week or so you actualy enjoy, something, ANYTHING you will stick with.  Don't do the stuff you hate, especially to start, find some sort of way to move that beautiful body and get out there.  Your mind, heart and body will thank you.

You are sooooooo close, just 13 lbs to go, you can do this, remain focused....

Big hugs,

Cindy

My Ultimate Goal - 180
01/31/11 Goal - 209
Today's Weight - 214.0 (+1.8)

I'm just praying this gain is related to the sodium in the stir fry I made last night.  But of course I wanted to stuff my frustration this morning but I opted for a cup of coffee and I'm working on getting in 12 cups of water instead of the 8 I've been doing all week...gotta flu**** out.
