VSG Maintenance Group
Hoping to join?
Hi, all I was invited a ways back to join your board.
I am not at maintenance yet,by choice anyway, but I feel I need to have someplace to answer to, with my eating and weigh in, and see if this helps me to get back down 30 lbs.
I am a carbohydrate binger, who is so ashamed of myself, I paid cash and had this surgery and I have let myself down. I loved how i felt a size 6-8 and getting close to a 4, now i am a 12 and not feeling well at all about it. I need more help than I can do on my own. I am working at going to a eating disorder group. I will go next Tuesday for the first time. I will post my food intake here daily and my weeklky weigh in. Thanks all!!

No shame here, only people who understand and are finding our way as well. Welcome, and hope that we can be of help!
I too self paid A LOT of money and worry constantly about regain. I think it's good that you are looking for support here as well as an eating disorder group. Please let me know how it goes. I think I would benefit from a group like that as well.

Hi, everyone is welcome in this group. while our focus is issues pertaining to the lifelong process of vsg maintenance, we share information on all aspects of weight loss and preops, post ops and those with any surgery are welcome to join and post. We are all finding our ways beyond the early months of hair loss and icky protein drinks. we all try to answer questions on the main forum and do what we can to expand the knowledge base for those who have had wls.
So feel no shame for being a carb binger. we all have been that at some point or another. sift through some of the posts here and see how some have dealt with some regain or eating urges. i suspect a support group of any sort would be helpful for you. also suggest you get back to food journaling and regular weighing and record keeping as being accountable seems to help. if you can see your surgeon or dietician for follow up, do so as studies show that those with more support and follow up do better. Finally, try a week of pretending you are a month or so out froms surgery and have protein shakes for one or two meals a day and overall really up your protein and get it in early in the day. plan ahead on what protein snacks you will reach for when you get those carby urges. going cold turkey on the carbs after surgery really helped me break that stranglehold and its a good thing to do. check in often. just reading the issues and successes of others keeps us all enthused on this lifetime project. gl and welcome. diane

Welcome, Barbara! I too have had a 20 pound regain and am struggling with raging sugar / carb addiction. This is a great little group of folks, wonderfully supportive, and a good group to be accountable to. Yes, there is usually a thread each day where we can post what we are eating. I have chosen to use the livestrong.com Daily Plate program instead. It tracks calories, protein, carbs, etc. Best wishes :-)
