Any experience with the book "Potatoes,
...not Prozac?" It is a book aimed at "sugar-sensitive" people. I read it several years ago, and it is me to a tee. Since I have NOT been able to get myself under control otherwise, I think I may have to go the total and complete sugar-free direction.

Hey, is an Intervention in order? LOL!
Kicking sugar is one of the hardest things to do, but after about three days it's much easier, and at three weeks it's about out of your system. Sugar (and to a lesser degree refined white flour) are inflammatory, so if you have painful joints you'll likely notice a difference. I've done it for months at a time, although my carb-addicted brain always goes back, as if sugar were an abusive lover.
Does the book recommend ALL sugar, like in commercially prepared spaghetti sauce, salad dressings, catsup and such?
Good luck, and vent here "early and often" (as they used to say about voting in Chicago)!

Oh yeah, I need an intervention bad :-) Just like the TV show, I want to be put on a plane and taken somewhere exotic to detox! where someone else fixes my meals for me and plops them in front of me, and I don't have to do anything but go to counseling and walk on the beach!!!
Yes, all sugar, sigh, not just "sweets." I might as well try it. What have I got to lose ... except the 20 pounds I can't shift, my raging addiction, and inflammation, HA!

Darlin girl!!
See if you cannot find a book called "Anatomy of a Food Addiction." She talks about different stuff and also using amino therapies (*insert disclaimer about finding out about medication interactions here) for the junkies, like you and me.
Also, google up a free Ebook called "The way Up from down, by Dr. Patricia Slagle. She talks about aminos too. Infodiva808 also uses amino therapies to help her with chronic pain and says it helps with the carb gimmies!!
We wanna support you in what you want to/need to do girlie, you just let us know what that is!

I haven't read the book. It's true that after a short time the sugar/carb cravings will leave you. I went for 9 years being vegan and not eating sugar so i know it can be done. For me, the first reentry of sugar is like opening the gates of hell. First I'm creeping for that one bite, then walking faster and before you know it, I'd knock down old ladies in the chocolate store to get my fix. I'm pretty much all or nothing with the sugar thing.
What I learned from all my years in OA is to read labels. If sugar is number 7 or below, it's acceptable and won't set off cravings. You'll find sugar in so many items that it's tough to get away from all of it unless you're eating fresh meat and dairy. Fruit can also be a trigger food for me as it converts to sugar just as quickly in me.
I'm doing Atkins very low carb so that I don't have sugar/flour cravings. I feel really good doing it.
You can do this, but I hear ya on the I Don't Wanna's. Heck, who wants to give us something that tastes so good?
