Slowing down soft foods!

Mini and I were talking about slowing down soft foods....like yogurt., tuna fish and egg salad.

I talked with the good doctor about this in the San Fran Group tonight.

He agreed and added....

- eating yogurt with berries/with skin would stay it in your sleeve longer. Also adding Flax, walnuts or almonds would do the same.

- eating tuna fish on cucumber slices with skin.

- egg salad with celery helps keep the food in your sleeve longer.

makes your food more interesting, too, a win-win

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

Oh yes this is so true.  I always put 2T of ground flax in 4oz greek yogurt and it makes it very thick and filling...and yummy too!!  It keeps me very satisfied for a long period of time.  I can actually work out on this small meal for an hour and a half and still feel full afterward.  It's the addition of the flax I think.

I also notice when I eat salads with chunky raw broccoli, carrots, cukes with the skin and hard boiled egg, I stay full much longer than if it's just lettuce/egg.

the fruit in the yogurt does work, and for the first time since surgery im really starting to enjoy my fruit again, berries and apples. although i have had to cut down on the yogurt to get in a decent amount of fruit.

I always have my yogurt with a .25 cup of bluberries or whatever berries I have around. I also, put in beneprotein for 6 grams of more protein and either, chia or flax seeds. This seems to stay with me. Yesterday, I was eating this before a workout, and I couldn't finish the whole thing, so I ate the rest of it, after the workout. Sometimes, I will put walnuts or almonds in with the yogurt. I did this pre-op and found it very satisfying. Also, you can mix cottage cheese with the yogurt for even more protein.

I love the idea of tuna fish and cucumber slices with skin. Sounds yummy.

I know slowing down the soft foods will keep us satiated longer, but I was wondering if there are other reasons to slow it down.  Sometimes I think if it gets through faster, less will be absorbed resulting in faster WL.  Am I way off???

The absorption of calories happens in the intestines. So it's not impacted by how long food sits in your stomach.
