new doctor and great labs

So I went to my new internist today for annual physical. I am a new patient to this guy as my former internist left the practice and I guess moved elsewhere. fortunatley this is a different doc but same group so all my records are there. My husband goes to him and likes him. So we met today and I like the guy - young and energetic. Its hard to get a primary care doc in our rural area as many are booked up and don't take new patients. Anyway, i had recently had my one year labs done (at 14 months ) but didn't expect the results to be back yet but he had them. All was good - everything in normal range. Total cholesteral still a little high but ratio good.I was really glad to see the vitamins and all that stuff is good as I am hoping dr. C won't make me test it all every single year if i am doing ok. will see him in two weeks.

So I talked to the new internist about having had the vsg and how good it had been and he is a stickler about keeping weight down and such. And he actually told me i shouldn't lose any more weight and should really eat a little more and maybe put a couple of pounds back on. I told him i liked hearing those words as having been a fat kid and fat my whole life no doctor had ever said that to me before. Anyway I told him about all the follow up I get from Dr. C who will monitor this and that its sometimes desirable to get a little below goal as there is sometimes a little regain after about two years. So its good to have a new doctor who is relatively young and is ok with weight loss surgery in general. he has been trying to get my husband to have it. I had checked out another doctor a few weeks ago as a prospective inernist for me and got the feeling he didn't approve of wls generally and just didn't like the guy. so glad to get the one i did.

Also had a friend come to visit that i hadn't seen in six months..  She said the difference in my apprearance was astounding. She said I almost looked like a cancer victim! This is a friend who can say absolutely anything to me and I to her so there was no unkindness. I don't think I look like  a cancer victim but i probably need to put back a pound or two but everyone else who has gone through this says don't sweat it and it will even out at about two years.  so I will go with that but ate my first popcorn in a year and a half as my friend is addicted to it. She actually brought along her x box and we played all these games on it and they were really fun and I think i might get one. got nagged by doctor to exercise more so maybe i will get an x box. anybody have one and do you use it a lot?

well thats about it.   got a tetnus shot with whooping cough booster. ouch.  diane.

I am glad you got to visit with your friend and enjoyed your new doctor!!  Stuff will redistribute and hard edges tend to soften a bit when your body realizes you are staying put.

Are you going to become an Xbox downhill racer champion?  :}

hey i did the downhill ski race one and liked it the best! used to be a skiier and want to be again but gotta build up those leg muscles. tried the mogul skiing program and that was fun. also did the horse jumping. that was a hoot. somehow i had a lot of trouble with the timing and kept crashing and crashing, even running the horse's head into the finishing arch. so hilarious. my husband sort of got into the boxing program. would like to see him do some of this but don't know if i can get the big screen tv away from him for  an hour in the evening to do this. anyway, may be an x box in my future. i had tried a wi and thought the graphics were dopey. now another expensive toy i gotta have but another way to get my a$$ moving. Ok...let me throw out a warning here for you...my family is extremely competitive with the wii. We have some kind of obsessive wii tournament everytime I go home.  Last thanksgiving, it was downhill skiing.  I was sooooo good...but my dad was right behind me. Hubs, mom, dad, sister, sister's boyfriend and i stayed up to 3 one night skiing. My knees were killing me, but I was defending my 1st place title, so of course I couldn't stop.  Shortly after that my knee started clicking everytime I walk. Finally went to see my pcp about it and I have a torn meniscus! Had to stick to archery at christmas ;-(

HI, sorry about your knee! Don't think thats too likely in our house as its just hubby and me and he has not had surgery but needs to so he will quit long before i do. we are not the competative types but had fun taking turns and each watching the other make an idiot of him/herself. but thanks for the warning. hope your knee is better now.i once hurt a knee doing real downhill skiing but ended up being nothing serious and is fine.   diane

Aww, thanks...unfortunately it is not going to fix itself without surgery which I am going to put off for as long as possible. It is a four month recouperation and I don't want to be off my bike that long (and it doesn't bother me while I cycle, which is all that REALLY matters, LOL)

Diane, if it isn't too personal, do you have insurance? I don't so I'm interested in how you got it if you do. I mean, you gave up the high powered job & are self employed, right?

please feel free to not answer if it's just none of my business. I know I would talk about a lot of stuff online (constipation, BO, emotional eating) but money is kind of personal!

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.
