Keep it coming ... I'm doing well on my maint. program ... not gaining weight (but it's only been 20 days) ... this type of information is so helpful.

I do attend a WLS group, but it seems to focus on Banders and those that are still struggling to lose weight.  I believe that I am the only one at goal so there isn't a lot of experience there to discuss the highs and lows of maintaining.

While I may not write everyday, I am definitely out here everyday.

Thanks!

Revision from Sleeve to DS (with re-Sleeve) on 10/10/17. Slow and steady ...

Hi Elina!
Have you heard anything about Truvia, the natural sweetner?  I use a couple of packs a day in my hot tea.
I'm trying to get back to basics.  It's a lot harder than I thought it was going to be after the holidays.  I've gained weight, 183 this AM and eventhough I like my body more at this week, I'm fearful that I'm just bull****ting myself.  Today is good and everyday is better.  It's really tough when I get home, I'm really hungry and graze most of the night.  I'm working on getting dense protein first for fullness and trying to do all I learned in the beginning but have let myself slip away from.  Prayer for me guys!!

Vicky, hang in there and use our strength when yours fails you.  Identify the problem areas and come up with a strategy.  Use our help if you want it to come up with these strategies.  We are all here for you.  It sounds like late evening is the hard time for you.  It is for most people.  Here are a few things that work for me.  1) All evening long have some hot tea next to you and sip, sip, sip all night. 2) Brush your teeth after your last meal of the day and tell yourself the kitchen is closed no matter how you "feel" about it later.  3)Make super low calorie veggie soup and eat as much of it as you need to feel full.  During the day eat mostly lean low fat dense protein and dense veggies, like broccoli to keep yourself full longer.  Journal again.  That's a big one.  If you have stopped, start with your very next meal.  Forgive yourself and food transgressions, it is over and not worth your energy.  Focus on the next few hours or if that is too much just the next hour.  Mix and Match these strategies along with the ones that worked for your early on.  When all else fails get on here and ask for help.  Call one of us.  You need to detox cold turkey from the carbs.  Make it happen today.

I'm so glad you came back to OH and especially to this site!  I do appreciate the support!  Loved your suggestions.  I'll keep you posted :)

p.s. just celebrated my 6 months sobriety :)  It's so hard sometimes to keep "everything" in balance.

Thank you so much for the info. I glean so much useful information from this forum and the support groups that I go to. They all have something to offer. I am still early on, but getting close to goal, so I am like a sponge for new info. My restriction is pretty good and I am in the middle of my fifth month. I haven't tested the waters for how much I can really eat, but I eat about 2-3 oz of dense protein at each meal, although, I still have a shake for breakfast (it is easier and gives me 30 gr of protein). Veggies, I am still working on getting more in. Just seems like after eating dense protein, there isn't much room for anything else. My surgeon also said that the volume of the sleeve should be double by a year.

Quick post while I'm on a break from class. I don't agree about the Splenda versus Sweet and low at all, but all the other nutritional info sounds right on, including nuts and berries being healthier choices (evolution-wise we are adapted to them). As far as sweeteners go, I highly recommend the Now brand Stevia.. I've tried a bunch of brands and most of them don't taste great to me, but the Now brand is great and I keep some of it in my purse and use it in my teas, etc.
