Does anyone else do weird stuff?

No I don't mean anything kinky or illegal. Specifically I mean buying food that I never eat. And I am not talking about inappropriate food like chips or cookies. Don't buy that stuff. What I do is stock up on the foods that I am supposed to eat and have learned to prefer such as greek yogurt or fat free cottage cheese or berries or grapes or canned tuna. The problem is I fear running out so I buy more than i will consume and end up throwing it out as it spoils. Have had to dump an awful lot of Fage GY down the disposal as it doesn't have a very long shelf life and it seems by the time I get around to it, its expired. I keep buying extra sugar free puddings since those make a great snack with a little protein powder mixed in. Fortunately they have a shelf life of about a zillion years but still buy too much of it. Do the same with coffee. Love the stuff and live in fear of running out even though there is no way plus Starbucks is 4 blocks away.  I am a good cook and always liked to keep a decently stocked kitchen but for practical reasons.  I have about 8 bars of trader joes sugar free low carb chocolate (so excellent) but haven't eaten any of it in 3 months. Does anyone else do weird food things like this? Whaaaasssssup with that? Diane

I see your hording behavior and raise you one nut-cake.  :)  I go through these weird periods when I want a particular healthy food and I eat it all the time.  This can last for a few weeks, then it gets replaced with some other healthy food.  What gives?  Normal people eat variety, oh, I forget, I am not normal.  :)

It drives me nuts! I can't seem to get used to buying for one, let alone one with Wls.  I have to keep telling myself it's better to throw it out than to over eat and gain weight. I do throw an awful lot of stuff out. I have to just keep telling myself, "it's okay"

It is hard to cook for one and not eat the same thing over and over again.

I heard this somewhere the otherday: 'Eating more than your body needs is just as wasteful as throwing something away'  I try to remember this when I have left overs on my plate.

And here I thought I was being original ... I've been teaching my kids that "eating more than your body needs is more wasetful that throwing it away" for a few years now.  My daughter was telling her friends at school this and they just couldn't wrap their heads around it.  I'm just glad that she understands it.  I still struggle with this even though I'm the one teaching it! lol.

I tend to do things in phases one month i might be into chicken and ill eat it til i dont want it anymore then it will sit in the freezer or it might be fage yogurt then ill not want it for awhile or even almond milk then ill have to throw it out.
right now i think ive been through all the different meats i can think of, so maybe ill go empty all the bits and pieces of different things i still have in my freezer lol.

I was thinking...'man, I am glad I don't do any of that stuff'...instead I sit here each night for about an hour and obsess over what I am going to eat the next day. I move food around in my food diary like chess pieces. The good thing is the next day I really don't worry about what I am going to eat, I just looked at what I planned the night before.

Don't even ask me how long it takes me to plan my dinners for the week so I can make my grocery list...

LOL - That is me exactly ... that food diary is the most engaging "online game" that I have.

Revision from Sleeve to DS (with re-Sleeve) on 10/10/17. Slow and steady ...

LOL   I just knew it. we are all nuts. probably always will be. But diabetics and people with other health issues have to plan and juggle their food and eating and be vigilent about having appropriate things available and keeping the bad stuff away. Part of my issue with the hoarding and throwing out is that i hate grocery shopping so i when i am at the store i try to buy everything i might need so i don't have to come back. that and the fact that in this rural area there is no trader joes and while there are national chain grocery stores and health food stores, its some distance to costco and winco and the other stores are expensive and it seems no one store has everything i need  so its a logistical issue of getting all that is needed while making as few store trips as possible. but having said that i would probably still do the hoarding thing even if there were six stores on the corner. i do think my life would be complete if we had trader joes and the big wigs in our area have tried to entice them to put a store in but its off their delivery routes. So i guess i will just keep getting the Fage and Chobani at the high priced health food stores when i am there and throw half of it out and be glad that i am no longer compelled to eat everything that really should go down the disposal; effectively I am no longer a human garbage disposal and my a$$ is no longer a landfill of unnecessary food!   am betting on another cool sunset tonight!    Diane
