Finishing the Journey

Michele T.
on 1/3/11 4:50 am - Houston, TX
I have started hanging out in the VSG Maintenance Group Board more and more because although I am not quite at maintenance, I seem to be closer to the maintenance phase than the newbie phase.

I am proud of myself for not gaining any weight at all through the holidays, and am now buckling down to get off the last 19 lbs to get to my goal.  But the truth be told, I would like to lose another 15 lbs on top of that, making my real goal 34 lbs away.

I could stay where I am and be quite content here, but I think to be at my healthiest, I really need to be around 180 and that is what my surgeon recommends for my weight.

So, I have viewed this whole trip as a life-changing marathon, not a race, and if by this time next year, I could be at 180, I will have accomplished more than I ever really thought possible when I started,  There is no reason not to really, losing weight is so easy with the sleeve if I just eat right most days and exercise most days.

So, here is to the upcoming year!!  May all of your dreams come true!!

Welcome Michele, we love getting new members and it sounds like you are pretty much at maintenance anyway.  Those last pounds will come off in time.

I have been coming here more as well Michele.  I'm not at goal yet either, but can relate much better over here.  I still like to pay it forward on the VSG message board from time to time, but not as often as I used to.  I'm still on all the boards daily as you are all my main support group!  (The best in my opinion)

Yes, I was very active on the main board for the first year, paying it forward.  I think it is time for me to graduate!!  It is evolution, right?  There are new people to pay it forward now.

I look forward to seeing you here also!!

Hey, Michele!   Happy New Year!  Who would have thought that in one year's time so much about our lives and our outlook could change?  I'm in the same boat as you with some pounds to lose before I'm in true maintenance.  However, in such a short period of time my need for support has changed--the sort of questions we ask, advise, etc.--it all changes after the initial months, and I'm so happy to have this extension available.

I love your attitude about the marathon.  I travel so much that I know I will always be fighting that bit of gain that comes with having too much fun, but that's just life--the marathon.

Good luck to you in 2011, and I know we can cross that finish line soon-if for no other reason than I KNOW WE CAN DO IT!

Welcome! This is a very supportive board and  learn how to maintain the weight loss.

I am really glad it's back to normal and every where I go, people will not be offering me goodies!
