New Year Resolution
I mentioned this before in a previous thread......
At our last support group meeting we talked about just this very subject.....
What I got out of it, was now that Weight Loss is not a NY resolution...... (sure maintenance is an ongoing venture)
It is time to set some new goals that were not obtainable or not realistic mentally and physically as a "super morbidly obese" person.
So my New Years Resolution is to set some obtainable goals for myself, both personally and professionally that are now possible as a person of normal weight with re-newed vigor and confidence.

yeah, it really feels good to not feel compelled to make such a resolution as we all did countless times. I eventually gave up knowing i would fail. This year i am resolved to continue my new healthier eating habits as well as to have fun and do things that my weight prevented me from doing previously. However, partying in bars on New Years Eve is NOT one of those things. Never had much fun doing that. Can think of numerous New Years Eves where friends and I tried to do that and had fairly bleak experiences. Hubby can barely stay awake past 10:30. Sometimes like tonight we jus****ch the east coast event and go to be early; usually to be awakened by fireworks and gunfire in our unincorporated little town. Glad to see I am not the only one spending new year net surfing! And making my fabulous cinnamon almonds. Happy New Year. Diane
yes, the almonds are wls friendly as they are made with brown sugar splenda. i know that has part sugar in it but its still not that great an amount and they taste super. i adapted it from a straight sugar recipe. enjoy.
Cinnamon Almonds
3 cups raw almonds
1 egg white
1 tsp cinnamon (or more)
1 half tsp vanilla
2 heaping TBS brown sugar splenda
1/2 tsp salt.
Beat the egg white with a whis****il frothy and then whisk in the vanilla, cinnamon, salt and brown sugar splenda. stir in the almonds until well coated. they will seem sticky. spread on a cookie sheet in a single layer that has been well sprayed with pam. Bake 10 minutes at 300 degrees, then stir well and bake another 10 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE remove and cool on sheet. they will seem still sticky when removed but will crisp up as they cool. Tastes great and while brown sugar splenda has some real sugar in it, tastes great. could probably do it with a reduced amount of white splenda if you want to avoid every bit of sugar. I have lots of diabetic friends and they are getting these for xmas. i sprinkled a little more salt on this last batch during roasting and really liked it that way.
enjoy

Drinking my new years away was not for me either, i have yet to have a drink since surgery. as i felt it was just wasted calories in my losing phase, and since im not one to drink at home trying drink at a bar would not be a wise move...
As for new years resolution i guess mine is to try and stay within my range for the next year and to stay foccussed.
I am actually looking forward to the holiday season being over and all the tempting treats being gone. then there is no reason to even try and talk myself into having something lol.

Had a nice dinner last night and now I am up way too early! I am off for a bike ride with hubs and two other friends...it is a balmy 28, so I don't know what I was thinking!
It is a perfect way to start the new year off, though...with a bike ride!

Mine this year is to become more fit. I didn't follow much of an exercise program in 2010. I did some walking and some exercise bike here at home. Walking is out during the winter months for me. I just can't dress warm enough to enjoy it. And I won't go if there is any snow or ice on the streets. So, I'm joining a fitness center on Monday. I went on Wednesday for a "test drive" and found that I enjoyed it. I blended in with the other normal sized people, so it was nice not to draw attention to myself as a severely morbidly obese person who might break a machine. I'm looking forward to going at least 4 x a week. My muscles are feeling it from the workout on Wednesday, which motivates me, because I know what I did was beneficial.
in theory, since I am no longer focused on losing weight - like I had been my entire adult life - I ought to have tons of time and energy to work on other stuff, right?
in theory!

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
PM me if you are interested in either of these.
