Whats your maintenance protein?
So how much protein do you all get every day in the maintenance phase and how much of it comes from protein shakes? I am supposed to do 70g and don't always get it. I only do one or two protein shakes a week as I just got so sick of them but am finding I have trouble getting the 70 without one. Anybody have any ideas for getting more protein in at this phase? If it were summer I would make a smoothie king frozen blueberry shake daily but in the cold damp winter its just too chilling. The big labs are coming up and i don't wanna flunk. Diane
I still use the protein vials occasionally, especially if I'm trying to DO something (like drop back off some lazy/busy gain)...I don't like the tea tree addition they put into the ones at costco, but I'm still working on 'em anyway. . . or chicken melts (chicken salad made with costco canned chicken and mayo with a little cheese sprinkled on top, zapped, no bread).
Iron is where I used to fail my labs but with regular supplementation it's all good.

You know honestly I haven't been measuring my protein, I just start each meal with at least three ounces of dense protein. I haven't had a protein shake since I was about 4 months out. I really hate those things. My labs looked good at one year, I guess will see what they look like in six more months.
I havent had the money to waste (yes this is purely my opinion) on protein shakes in a long while (they run me about $3 each where I live!).. I prefer to blow my money on yummy meat- my go to proteins are beef and bison- steaks, roasts, or ground...
I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!
"People spend a lifetime searching for happiness; looking for peace. They chase idle dreams, addictions, religions, even other people, hoping to fill the emptiness that plagues them. The irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within." - Ramona L. Anderson
I still a premier protein shake in the morning ... and i try to get my 70 grams in a day sometimes its 67 or so but pretty close.
If you need to do a hot drink, use cocoa and if you pour in your protein shake as a creamer, then you could probably have no problem getting one in.. that way or protein powder i guess or a protein coffee...

I still try for 80+/day and I get it from foods like greek yogurt, meat, fish, cheeses and when I'm low I'll drink a protein zone shake w/35 grms of protein.
My labs were great at 1 year. I'm been messin around with all kinds of crap during this holiday season, off work for 2 weeks and have NOT been getting my protein, water or vits in like I normally do. I'll be glad to get back to work on Monday and get back into my routine. Love you guys! Vicky

I aim for at min over 70 grams daily. I get it from real food and very seldom do shakes. I do have a shake every once and awhile if I am on the go or if it is a particularly protien light day. Lately, I have been drinking Honey Milk. I guess it is more of a recovery drink than protien drink. A cycling friend of mine introduced it to me. It tastes good, which means I don't mind drinking...which means I'll actually drink it, LOL!

Diane, I was thinking of you yesterday and this thread. I have to share my new yummy protein food with you. I made Eggface's protein mint ice cream yesterday with Gladiator protein powder. It was much yummier than I expected it to be and had tons of protein. I made it with low-fat vanilla soy-milk and sugar free mint Andees candies. It just might be my new go to treat.
Thanks for the tip Elina. Its always good to hear that a recipe is really a good one. Living in the cool damp north coast climate makes me want to stay away from frozen cold items (big hail storm yesterday) but I will definitly try it out in the summer as I love smoothie king gladiator. I think i will review eggface for hot drinks. Right now i am doing a cup of coffee with a serving of costco choc protein powder mixed in. It blends well into hot coffee as long as its not super hot. Coffee taste seems to make it easier for me to get this down in the morning. I've had a cold for a few days and have lost a couple more pounds accidently so I am getting to where I really have to watch it and not lose any more. The cold is making me not want to eat much but I am sure that will pass when the cold passes. But I really appreciate the info on the mint ice cream. Its amazing how good sugar free candy is these days. Someone gave me a tin of pecan caramel "turtle" candies with no sugar added and they are exceptional. I used to absolutely hate all artifical sweeteners and wouldn't touch them but what a difference a sleeve makes. Lapsf now has some new vanilla latte flavor protein drink that I think i will try.
And try the cinnamon almond recipe i posted awhile back. its really outstanding. gonna make a batch tonight. diane
