I'm Guilty as Follows.....

I'd like to voice something that I believe I'm guilty of.......

However It was never my intention....... But when I look at my previous posts.....

I/we LapSF/Cirangle patients have to be sensitive that this is NOT a LapSF/Cirangle forum..... although it seems like from the get-go there are several of us here.

This is a Maintenance forum for all...... And I would not want to alienate anyone from posting or responding here......

It does seem LapSF does have a stronger program than most...... and in our excitement about learning new things, we need to share without it sounding like this is a LapSF/Cirangle forum.

It  was really brought to my attention when mini_me_now Linda responded to my previous thread about reflecting on my recent Support group meeting experience. I felt that she was tippy toeing a little bit........ Linda is one of our "MOST" dedicated and knowledgeable members here on OH and I look up to her in many ways.

So..... That's it ... I'm guilty.... I just mention this so we can keep the VSGMG on track to grow and be a resource for all.!!!

Carry on...

Well Frisco from my point of view, I like hearing about the LapSF/Cirangle program.  After all he is one of the leading surgeons for the VSG and has the long term studies that no body else has.  So, if he's got something that's working then I want to hear about it.  Thanks for posting the info and sharing.

nope i was not tip toeing, maybe what you were sensing is my envey of your support group, since moving away from cali i really do not have the face to face contact with other sleevers.

while i think oh is extremely important for me... there is nothing quite like facing someone and seeing results with your own eyes.

I certainly did not want to give you the impression i was not interested in what you had to say... if thats how my post came off then i do apologise because it was not meant to.

Hey all.....

Maybe I over reacted..... I just thought it wouldn't be good to look down the list of posts and it reads Dr.C this and Dr.C that.....

This group has different surgeons and it would be interesting to hear other thoughts and opinions from other programs...

Well... here I go again.... One of the answers Dr.C gave Elina..... Is that when your at goal and maintaining.... you customize your eating to your own needs. Like eating smaller meals more often to work around stomach emptying.

Maybe another surgeon has even another option????

I love reading about what you all learn at your LapSF support group meetings.  I'm a Kaiser Richmond VSG and our support group sucks.  The only reason that I go is to talk to pre-ops about how much I love my Sleeve.

Our support group is led by a case worker who insists that we all follow the party line.  That just doesn't allow any space for asking questions or talking about what really goes on post-op.  The good news is that post-ops meet for the first hour once a month where we do get to talk about the reality of WLS.

So please keep posting because I learn a lot from all of you!

While I'm not at goal yet, I do read all of your posts here to educate myself.

I don't think you have anything to feel guilty about.

I'm here to learn and obtain support as many of us are. I can relate to what you said in the other thread as I'm not a joiner of anything. Yet I find my self addicted to going to my support groups as well participating on OH. The other week I had to stop myself as I was sacrificing a business trip as not to miss my monthly support group meeting. That's definitely not my MO.

I feel that my doctor setup a pretty strong support group. One that he doesn't attend. His philosophy is that patients should support patients. He does have his PA's run the meetings as to make sure they have structure. I've also been to a support group meeting where it's totally run by patients that has no affiliation with a surgeons office.

Not sure which is the best model. But the point is that we all learn things from our experiences. I think it's important that we share and learn from one another.

I hope that you don't stop sharing your experiences of what happens in your support group meetings. As i said I can relate even though I'm not a LAPSF graduate.

Frisco, First of all, never admit guilt to anything!  Take the 5th!  But if you are guilty of discussing lapsf views too much then there are several guilty parties, myself included.  But I always like hearing what other surgeons, support groups, programs and dieticians recommend and learn something from practically any viewpoint.  So i don't think you should have any qualms about posting about your experiences or information you have received. Its all good for all of us. It happens that there are more than a few lapsf people in this group but thats probably because they have done so many sleeves for a longer period of time and have a larger group of patients who are at or near goal. Living in a rural area I always like hearing what happens at the big city groups and I hope those who attend these, whether lapsf or others, will share what they learn.  Diane

Frisco, when I first read your post, I must admit to a moment of "oh oh, busted".  I could totally see myself as the main culprit in your theory.  For a second I thought that maybe I went to far with all the Dr. C stuff.  But after reading the other posters replies, I think we are OK.  When I put myself in the others place, I think I would really like to hear anything that was discussed in a different support group.  I would eagerly learn from others and I see that they feel the same way.  You are one terrific guy (but we already knew that), to point this out to us.  I will be more careful.
