Happy Birthday to my tummy!
Yep, today is the day. One year ago, I was being wheeled into the operating room--nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof. Today, I'm full of energy, and I feel more "alive" than ever before. I still have 15 pounds before achieving my personal goal, but I've exceeded my doctor's expectation by five pounds. I want to see a "normal" BMI for once in my adult life. I know i need plastic surgery to fully realize the potential of my loss, but that won't be for some time--if ever. A SPECIAL THANKS TO every single person on this forum for giving me a place to talk, learn, grow, vent, etc. This has been an amazing ride, and I'm so glad I found the courage to have WLS.
Consult 11/14/09: 299
Surgery Day: 283
Today: 185
Considering two three-week trips to Europe, including an 11-day cruise, another 4-day cruise, three trips to Disney World, one trip to Disneyland, one trip to Las Vegas, one trip to Lake Tahoe and way too many Texas Rangers (which means nachos and hot dogs!) games to count, I think my loss has been great! It's been a good reminder that I CAN live my life like normal and still be the master of my weight loss/gain. Yah me!
I'm going to post on the Sleeve board also as I know how much I loved to read progress reports as a newbie. (can't believe it's been a freakin' year already!!!!)

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
PM me if you are interested in either of these.
size 8, life is great
congrats, the time flies by doesnt it, im sure youll meet your goals, its not easy being totally good at this time of the year but the sleeve still has your back, we might go up and down a few lbs but in years gone by there would have only been up up and up no going down...

Congrats!!!
Oh... you mean you got your life back !!!!
Well, here is the downside....... life costs money !!!!!
We all tried to avoid traveling as an obese person.......... Now traveling is now enjoyable !!!
This year I traveled abroad 5 times for both business and pleasure........Big Bucks !!!!
And.......You can now buy clothes anywhere! (what a concept!).......Bucks !!!
Sorry..... but the money you save on food doesn't match what life costs !!!!
But..... It's worth it !

Amen Frisco. It would be cheap to stay home all the time and eat mashed potatoes. But not near as much fun as riding a horse, buying a wetsuit and learning to surf, and skiing at Taho, none of which are cheap but all of which i plan to do within the next year. And I really believe we have all gained about 10 years of life so gotta plan for that old age! Hope social security holds out. But saving money on bp meds and other healthcare junk. Definately worth it! D
