If you are on a PPI, do you have constipation issues? A poll of sorts.

Yea, many of the DSers chalk it up to the calcium and iron intake.

I have problems with constipation but I was off my PPI for 6 months and it was no better. I always thought it was the iron. I am still anemic in spite of taking iron.

I use miralax and it seems to do the trick. I am going to start adding benefiber to some of my liquids too.

I also think it's because we don't have much room for enough veggies.

Yes to both.

I never really thought about the PPI being the issue. I didn't have an issue with constipation preop, but now it seems to be getting worse with time. I make sure I get plenty to drink, take colace and metamucil daily, but still am not in a ... "happy place" where that is concerned.

BOOO!!

Do you take any probiotics?  I wonder if that would help.

HOnestly to unplug I had to have a zillion colace, a box of smooth move tea and even then nothing moved until after I ate a bag of prunes!  OY!

I think on the lightweight board lately they were doing a test and somebody said they had good success with papaya enzymes!  I used to chew them and chewable probiotics after every meal when I was first out - I never had constipation like so many other folks had and I always attributed it to the payaya and the probiotics - now I wonder if they really did help, but the trick was I was NOT on a PPI!

My chewable probiotics and papaya enzymes, I just got at Wal-Mart or the local grocery store!

Here!  I found the link for you!
