how are you handling the stuff-a-thon?
I am blessed to have a job and lucky enough that Thanksgiving is just another work day for me. It helps that we do not have family of origin locally, so are not obligated to go places/do things/eat holiday food.
Between fella and I Thanksgiving is not that big of a holiday deal, except that the weekend after is the 18th anniversay of our going out for the first time! Awwww! So, luckily, I will just fix whatever for dinner and it will be a day.
I am thankful he is not too much of a traditional holiday food guy and would rather eat his cereal and yogurt and regular lunch and whatever I cook for dinner and not feel left out if I do not fix holiday fare. Maybe I can mind meld him into taking us out for Thai~!

I plan on doing what I did last year....Eat some turkey some veggies, maybe a bite or 2 of stuffing ....then I'll be stuffed! I don't anticipate any big issues. I am still pretty restricted, so If I do protein first, I'm fine. I don't stress over it . It is only 1 day, I don't usually have the leftovers so I can manage. The week of leftover food is the big problem! Go over to someone else's home, and bring nothing home....or have it at your home and SEND everything home with others!
We're having family and friends over, and I'm cooking all the traditional stuff. I'll probably have a bite or two of several of the dishes. I don't worry much about overeating, even at this time of year, because it gets too uncomfortable if you have that extra bite. I think this is probably the first year I'll go into the holiday season without weight anxiety.
I'll probably just be really strict with myself for a couple of days leading up to Thanksgiving, then just eat whatever I want. I can't eat enough to do much damage anyway. That's how I've been handling all of the "special occasions" so far and it has worked really well. Then after the the "event" is over, I'll be strict for a couple days again and the scale will never show a change. I never deprive myself, but I kinda handle my calories like a checkbook....it's all about the balance.

I have made up my mind that this year will not be a stuff-a-thon! I am in control this year as it will be at my house (I volunteered!). I am not going to cook for 3 days straight and have an enormous buffet as we have had in the past. We will have the basics only, turkey & dressing (gotta have) along with either mashed potatoes or yams. Maybe a lowfat version of green bean casserole and 1 SF dessert. I do plan on having some of everything (unless I fix yams-cant stand them) however it will be tiny portions after the turkey. I actually am looking forward to the Holidays this year because I feel I have the right mindset.

good idea. i am doing the same thing. having things at my house. stuffing the turkey with a lower carb stuffing. told guests if they wanted any dessert they had to bring it as well as sweet potatoes. i will make the turkey, stuffing, gravey and veggies. and maybe some mashed potatoes even though i don't want them around everyone will scream if i don't do them. you will do great with your plan. nice going. and when you cook all that junk it makes you not want to eat it - unlike going to someones house where good stuff that you didn't have to fix is abundant. d
I told my mother that I'm not cooking and I'd rather go out for Chinese food or something instead. She said she will bring food. Fine with me!
I just know that if I cook, I will make excuses to cook the stuff I don't eat anymore (ex: baked mac & cheese, pecan pie, pumpkin cheesecake, super oily and sugary pumpkin spice bread) and I dont' want the leftovers in the fridge taunting me.
