whats for breakfast?

Ok, a lifelong eating issue for me is that i don't like breakfast much and don't feel like eating until i have been up and around for a couple of hours. i know this tended to make me eat more for lunch when i worked in an office environment and more evening snacking. now with the sleeve restriction i  gotta plan better and space out the protein since i can't stuff it all in at dinner time. so what are some good breakfast options?  i will eat a protein drink for lunch but can't take it in the morning. bleecchhh. so i sometimes do string cheese for breakfast or a couple of eggs (but went through a phase of several months where i couldn't stand them) . any other ideas? i don't like protein bars because they have all these icky weird ingredients that i can't believe are good for you, but resort to them in a pinch. i swear i am going to come up with some kind of homemade protein bar one of these days. so what do you all eat?  oddly, i have hated oatmeal all my life and all hot ceral. when i was making it for my brother these past weeks it suddenly was appealing and i now like it with a few frozen blueberries! go figure. D

I am not a fan of breakfast foods much in general (unless its hash browns, corned beef hash, eggs over medium mashed up with ketchup and hot sauce on toast points!! - but yea - you know that's not a regular dealio around here :} ).

I never had the cannot eat in the mornings, so I just tend to have.. (surprise) meat salsa and cheese nuked up.

OR. I make a popeye pie muffin, 1 ounce ground beef, 1/2 ounce spinach, 1/2 T ground flax, 1 silce cheese mixed in with Chicago Steak Spice and an egg, bake it up.  I also tend to make those when we travel for handy nutrition to eat in the vehike.

Good luck girlie!

I have never been a breakfast person either. Eggs are too heavy for me in the morning, and yogurt doesn't stick with me. Right after surgery, I was making these cottage cheese pancakes and eating them with a couple of thawed raspberries on top--do you have that recipe?--they're quite good.

But, now,  I think I eat the weirdest breakfast ever...at least my husband thinks so! I have been doing this since about 6 months post op--so more than 2 1/2 years..I eat a bowl of shrimp wonton soup from Costco. 9 grams of protein, not a lot but it gets me started, 100 calories, 11 grams of carbs. They have 5 shrimp wonton in each bowl in this yummy  warm broth that just appeals to me for some reason in the morning. I stay full until about 11:30 or so with this and then I go for the dense protein the rest of the day.

It's funny--I truly crave this soup in the morning!

I'm totally down with the Miso soup...... Ate that when I was on liquids and softs. Problem for me is ya gotta have all the parts in stock. I like the cubes of tofu in there as well as that nori.

Your right.... When I'm in Japan there is always Miso Soup on the table for breakfast. Just for you, next time I have all the parts in house.... I'm gonna try it for breakfast! I'll prep it the nite before so I just gotta heat it up in the morning!

I tend not to be a sit down breakfast person. I'm cyced to get my first round of liquids (cold) and protein drink in. I really enjoy that Muscle Milk Light. Sometimes I have yogurt in the morning also.

I think it makes me look forward to a savory lunch.

You going to the San Jose meeting on the 17th. ?

hey i've had this stuff and its good but never thought of it for breakfast. only thing i hate about it is it has such wasteful packaging.  actually costco has a lot of good soups, some of which are maintenance suitable. the tomato basil can conceal some unflavored protein powder if not heated excessively. d

I TOTALLY agree on the packaging--I wish they would change it. I feel guilty buying it, but I just LOVE it and it always feels so good on my tummy in the a.m. And at least I haven't had to buy any plastic food storage containers in years!
