how long are you staying full after eating?

Hi guys!!  I guess I'll play!

I really still do not get hungry, but I get empty after about 3 or 4 hours and begin to feel sleepy.  If I'm busy and active...like shopping or something it can be longer, but then I start to feel a little funny so I try not to go more than 4 hours.  Now if I'm sitting around the house watching tv or reading, then my mind wants food sooner, but I usually can shut her up with a nice 16oz cup of hot tea or coffee or even something really sweet like crystal light.  I try and drink constantly between meals (after waiting the appropriate 45 minutes of course).

For me, exercise seems to curb my appetite.  I'm just not hungry after a 90 minute workout and never was even pre-sleeve, go figure!

Glad to be here everybody!!

I feel "hungry" 2-3 hours afterwards but not a real gnawing hunger so usually if I drink something I realize its not hungry it's thirsty. I dont' really get hunger pains anymore just a little in the moring sometimes, if I'm really hungry, I'm talking over 5 hours not eating, instead of hunger pains I get kind of weak and little shakey (sometimes) or just plain crabby/*****y/confused-a real frazzled feeling. I eat and its over.

It varies for me between three and six hours usually. But when I get hungry I eat, and when I don't I don't eat...

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

I have never lost my hunger unfortunately.  I get hungry every 1-2 hours and unfortunately have been eating when I'm hungry which results in grazing.  I try to eat protein first and usually do, but that amounts to a lot by the end of the day.  Although my weight fluctuates, I think I may have snuck up a couple of lbs and have to get this under control.

Alas, I get hungry at least every couple of hours.

I eat a hearty breakfast of yogurt, small bowl of cereal, and a spoonful of peanut butter.  A couple of hours later at work, I am feeling pretty peckish and have some cheese and a pack of peanut butter crackers.  (These darn crackers!  I have become addicted!)

Lunch varies, depending on if I can nip home and fix something, or if I have to eat at my desk, or if I have to race to job number two and eat in the car.  I do always have some protein, but the rest varies.  Mid-afternoon I have a snack of nuts or more peanut butter or more cheese ... or something! before I start job number three.

By supper I am usually fried (*me*, not my food, HA!) and eat some of whatever leftovers are in the frig.  Again, always some protein and hopefully some veg.  By 8:00 or so, I am hungry again ... and this is when I can get into trouble with grazing.  The trick is to only have healthy stuff in the house.  Unfortunately, I have had a lot of junk around the past six months or so, and I am really struggling.

THE MORE JUNK I EAT, THE MORE JUNK I WANT!!!  Why can't I act wisely on that knowledge???

jeez woman, three jobs! no wonder you want to eat junk sometimes and feel hungry. I have this theory that the obesity epidemic is not just about big restaurant portions and high fructose corn syrup and lack of exercise (though these are serious culprits) but also about our overall do too much stressed out lifestyles. I suspect that this stress and having too much to do all the time and not  enough down time triggers ghrelin or some other need to eat hormones or something and interferes with normal hunger/eating cycles of the three meals per day variety. Just my own theory and i am not a scientist but i wish someone would research it. also, i know when one is over stressed with too many demands on time or energy we want to take a little "me" break with some replenishment of self and energy and that often translates into a sweet snack or carb snack.  When i was in the high stressed corporate world i can't begin to count the times i drove home after a difficult day thinking "i have got to have some chocolateA" and hitting that big bag of peanut m and ms. it was truly theraputic. So when i see all these tv programs about planting an inner city vegetable garden or some exercise program as an answer to the obesity epidemic , i think yeah thats good but i think there are deeper societal causes that have to be addresssed.  so thats what i think.  of course, when i junked the corporate world, i didn't lose weight like i thought i would but i did a little until i began a love affair with peanut butter cups. evil things. they are like heroine to me. if i ever admit to eating one i want you all to come and tie me up.   d

Lack of sleep (which is often associated with a stressful life) has been shown to increase appetite.

Also stress causes us to produce cortisol which has an impact on insulin and glucose.

I stay full 2-4 hours for the most part.

However, I'm always hungry 1 hour after I eat lunch. I think that's because it's hard for me to get in a lot of hard protein and I generally have hard protein for lunch. So my lunch is often less than 200 calories!
