I know what you are saying about the challenging part of the liquid diet. Our stomachs/bodies will not be the same and therefore we will react differently to the liquids later. I am hoping it is better!
I did not have a long liquid diet requirement. They only wanted full liquids the two days prior and at least one meal replaced for the week prior. I decided to double the two days of the liquid so I am starting day 3 today! I've lost almost 8 lbs so far since starting with the liquids.

I am getting sleeved on March 8th. I am excited and nervous all at once. The liquid diet has been a *****allenging which scares me a little bit about my over all success. I know I can do this but the fear of failing yet another diet scares the hell out of me. How are you doing on the liquid diet? What plan does your doctor have you following?
Topic: RE: Protein Shakes ... the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly!
I have tried the muscle milk lean, the low carb slim fast and the whey protein shakes. I love them all. I prefer the royale chocolate for the slim fast but the french vanilla, creamy chocolate, capichino and the strawberry are good also. The whey protein is my favorite so far. I make it with skim milk and it tastes great. I will probably need to switch it up a little before too long but for now it is doing the job,

I'm just a few days ahead of you! I am starting to get nervous, but not crazy nervous. I know what can happen, both positive and negative and just feel that the benefits completely outweigh the risks for my situation.
I met one person who got the sleeve and we have talked about his experiences. He told me what things to do and not do, which are basically what everyone is posting on the main VSG board.
I "started" this group because I wanted to talk with/share with people that were going through the same things NOW :) like you!
Is your surgery date the 12th?

just wanted to say hi! I just joined the group in the hopes of finding others to chat with about this new adventure! I'm having my sleeve surgery in 9 days and to be honest I am a nervous wreck!!! I'm not sure why, just freaking out a bit, lol. I think its probably because I don't actually know anyone who has had this surgery, while I know so many who have had lapband or bypass I don't have anyone who can share their real life experience...you know, the nitty gritty details that the surgeon may not have mentioned. I would love to hear your experiences so far!

Okay, let's lay it all out! What have you tried and how did it taste?
I will admit that I have really only tried one kind and I really like it. The best part is the protein is rBGH free (synthetic growth hormone) and sweetened with stevia. I really try to stay away from sucralose as much as I can. I like Jay Robb Whey Protein. I've tried the chocolate and strawberry and they were pretty good with none of the nasty aftertaste. I also ordered some of the tropical dreamsicle and I will let you know how that goes.
Edited: I tried a few Nectar flavors and wasn't terribly impressed. They had a bit of an odd aftertaste (not terrible, but not great). I've read that the Nectar Naturals taste better, but haven't been able to find samples.
Edited post-op: I cannot stomach any of the drinks that I enjoyed before surgery, but have found that the Isopure Grape Frost and Pineapple Orange Banana are tolerable. I am drinking 24 oz of this a day now which equals 48 grams of protein.
