My surgery was monday and i am still in the hospital, but should be going home in the morning.  I'm feeling ok, still lots of pain in the main incision/hole.  I've had some nausea and worse heartburn yesterday.  I'm only getting down about half of what I should be, but I'm feeling ok otherwise.  I was bummed out this morning because I got on a scale here and I was up 9 pounds from admission. I know its mostly the fluids, etc.  but i just didn't expect to see that number go up! LOL

Topic: RE: Come on down and share your story!
Hi all.. well, here's me.  I guess I'm the senior (lol)  However I am 50 years young AND have a beautiful daughter who will be 9 in May.  She is adopted and the most wonderful thing that has ever happended to me.  I too have been up and down my entire life, likely spending thousands on diets.  My lowest adult wt was about 155 when I was in my late 20s..   The next years was a pattern of gains and losses....  When my daughter was adopted , I  got down to about 190... and felt good, vowing to continue on this track for her...   Yet over the past years ,   well, you know the story...  at 49 I did Nutra System... thinking I did not want to be heavy at 50 and life would change.... I lost about 30 lbs... and struggled through it for year...  No movement.
I had researched WLS for some years, being afraid and not having the option near my home.  However, our hospital (the one at which I work as a nurse) recently started a certified bariatric program and hired a new surgeon.  After watching, and researching... I decided to talk to the coordinator.  I left SOLD on the sleeve.  I knew what I wanted out of WLS and what I did NOT want..  This seemed the means.
After   50 years of dieting... a strong family history of obesity and metabolism not on my side....  I knew there was something more.  So this is my chancel.  I want so much to be active again with my daughter,   To do the slides at the water park...to play in the park and no****ch...  I  want her to be proud of me.. and I want to be proud of me.  I want to live a long healthy life and teach her to do the same.  My surgery was Last Tuesday, the 6th.  I had a rough time post op with drinking and nausea.  Still having belly discomfort and energy loss..   BUT praying each day will get better.  that's my story, and I look forward to hearing about everyone else's triumpths!

Topic: RE: Protein Shakes ... the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly!
I bought the GNC LEAN Shake.  It has 25gms pro., which was my required amount.  Choc and vanilla are pretty good. I am not a fan of any others.  Although they do taste sort of watery.  I may venture to the Jay Robb if really is better.  Ill have to see.  I had to do 2 weeks of 4 shakes a day plus half cup portions of v8 juice, cream of wheat, cream soup, greek yogurt and sugar free pudding( one of each at a meal and 2 snacks).   I was not really hungry and stuck to it, loosing 17 lbs.  So that part is good!  But if pro shakes will be with me for a while would love to find something really tasty!  tx!!!

Topic: RE: When is/was your surgery??
Hello.  I had my surgery on the 6th as well. For those of you nearing preop...  I too was very nervous.. and apparently had quite the discussion on the OR table!  I'm a nurse and had the surgery where I work!  So...    LOL                 I am just a week post op and on clear liquids , blach..   really having a time with that,  everything tastes artificial.  Diet everything. so anxious to taste something savory, broth is not cutting it.  I have, however lost 24 lbs from the time of my pre op diet to now... so that is very cool. Also anxious to start feeling better, more energy...I'm not good at this part.. !  But ill be patient because I know that it will all be worth it.  After years of diets, weight on, weight off,..... I made up my mind.  I have young child and want to enjoy life WITH her...  no****ch her!  Excited and feeling "thinner" already...!  I would love to hear of others post op period....

Topic: How is everyone doing?
I'm a few days out and feeling better each day.  The worst part is I just want savory things (or jus****er).  I went grocery shopping to two stores this morning (with help) for the family and am going out to eat tonight to celebrate my Son's Reading award.

How are you doing?

So I scheduled today and thought I'd feel so happy.  I am happy, but feeling pretty apprehensive.  I feel certain I want to do this and am ready for the BIG change. I just have an anxious feeling I can't describe.
