Topic: RE: Protein Shakes ... the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly!
okay, let's see... I'll put this in a list to be a bit easier.

Protidiet liquid packs... very good but made from hydrolyzed gelatin not whey, fruit flavors that mix well come in thick liquid pouches
Bariwise hot cocoa.. all flavors yummy & I have used in coffee instead of creamer
Hyvee brand Healthy Whey (vanilla carmel swirl, chocolate milk, dark choc.) all okay not great
Atkins shakes...have tried them all most liked are the coffee ones & chocolate ones.
Pure Protein powder... cookies & cream... not bad
Muscle Milk (light)... disgusting
Pure Protein (whey shot) fruit punch... not bad & 50g protein in bout 3oz
Sunkist (whey shot) grape.... gross
New Whey protein shots... orange-gross, fruit punch- gross, grape-gross, blue raspberry- ok   42g protein bout 3oz
Bariwise soups- pretty good

I just got some flavors from About Time, I'll let you know as I try them but it was a post I read about their birthday cake flavor that intrigued me. I ordered the fill shake & go bottles (6 pack) & the 2 trial thing. I got birhtday cake, chocolate, banana, peaches & cream, mocha mint & cinnamon swirl. other thing I like is just 4 ingrediants, more natural. Hope I like them!!

I also just received my order from Nectar of the sample pack also. I'll let you know on those also.

There have been others but I can't remember them  obviously not terribly impressive since I can't remember...lol!

Nectar Vanilla torte- gross

Premier Nutrition Protein RTD chocolate- very good  Costco & has 30g protein

NECTAR- cherry-- gross

INTEK-- blue ice   gross

Tell me about the full time job of getting the protein and liquids in.  Yesterday was my first day of almost hitting 60g of protein and I felt not so great around bedtime.  I think I need to set an alarm so I do not forget/get behind.

I crave more of the savory things than sweet.  I'm not saying that I don't like chocolate anymore, just that I find myself wanting soup, etc. when it is "meal time".

I'm glad you're healing well.  I'm having issues with my bellybutton incision.  It isn't infected, but it isn't healing as well as the others.

Well,, maybe about the same. ...  My diet is still full liquids until tomorrow.  I felt not so good for the first 10 days or so.. started to feel better, then today was extremely tired and nauseous.  I don't know.  Just feel weak.  I thought i could go back to work this Monday, but extended my leave.  I'm a nurse, but do not do direct patient care.  It feels like a full time job trying to get liquids and protein in.

I am basically eating prot. drinks, yogurt, cream soup, thin oatmeal...  sugar free pudding and fudgesicles... but I'm trying not to get "hooked" on the sweet stuff again, now that i sort of have been "detoxed"

And my poke holes are well healed...  but if definitely still "feel" my stomach... or something internally.  Its just a weird feeling.  I find myself holding my tummy sometimes when I walk..I don't know how else to explain it!

That's about it with me... just hoping I'm "normal".

Very best to everyone else on this road to wellness!

As for me, I'm fairly pain free, but two of my incisions are still a wee bit tender.  I even slept on my stomach (partially) for part of the night last night.

Eating is still a huge issue for me.  I am feeling more and more hungry, but only when I should be hungry (meal and snack time).  I am eating pudding, jello, popsicles, pureed soups, pureed chicken with sauce, and the like.  I'm also able to take in a lot more liquid than just 5 days ago.  My protein drinks are holding me back a bit as I am having a hard time getting them down even with the new ones that are a bit tolerable.

I stepped on the elliptical today for 5 minutes, but didn't use the arms as I could feel some pulling on my stitches.  I plan on getting on it at least 2-3x tomorrow for the same amount of time.  I took it EASY, but still elevated my heart rate.

I'm subbing this week for at least one day and hope that I have the energy to be on my feet teaching for most of the day.

How is it going for you? What are you eating? How are you feeling?

Go to the upper menu bar and hover over MY OH.  The menu pulls down and you will see a column MY HISTORY to the right.  Under that is Surgeries.  Just click on that and enter it in!
